This one of the first songs I heard from Lou! One of the greatest from the 60s era. RIP Lou Christie ❤🙏🏽

"The Gypsy Cried" is a song written by Twyla Herbert & Lou Christie, which was released by Lou Christie as a single in 1962. The song was initially released by Pittsburgh-based Co & Ce Records (1962), and was a local hit in Pittsburgh, but it was soon picked up by Roulette Records and became a national hit. The song was released on Lou Christie's eponymous album in 1963. The song spent 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 24 on March 16, 1963

I remember hearing him as a 6 going on 7 yr old kid back in 1966 with Lightning Strikes and seeing him on a Saturday afternoon rock show; Lloyd Thaxton or Clay Cole belting out the tune dressed as Superman...I never stopped listening to Lou; may he sleep in peace

Loved that Falsetto. His Octave range was way up there. Rhapsody is one of my favorites, It was banned when it first came out due to the lyrics.

Rhapsody in the rain...And in this car, Our love went much too far. The windshield wipers seemed to

Uncle Philly loved listening to this song while driving his Lincoln Town Car. I think he was listening to this song when he crashed into the back of a Boar's Head truck.

Heard it but never bought it as a kid. Much preferred "Two Faces Have I". He looks great in this performance.

He sounded just as good as when he was popular in the early '60s! That classic 'I yi yi yi yi...' ☺️💜

I love you, Lou.😊 He has an awesome voice I could play his songs over and over. When he was 20 I wasn’t born yet, but when this song was released in 1963 I was born in time to hear it.😅I love it!

His drummer is none other than Gary Mallaber, soon to join the Steve Miller Band afterwards.

It was slightly unusual to write your own songs in those days. And he served as student conductor of the choir. A very talented man RIP Lou Christie XXX
