I love garnets. I am 38 years old and I never knew purple colored garnets were even possible until a few years ago. On the Gem Shopping Network I saw my first purple garnet ever. The Almandine.

Watching you cut that garnet blew my mind. I have a couple of antique diamond rings and the jewels are miniscule! The effort that had to go into those chips to make them able to be set in a ring defies imagination. The time to cut ONE almost makes me wonder how it is even worth the cutters effort. 6 rubies and 1 diamond and the ring was valued at $120

OH how I envy YOU and your TALENT!! Garnet just happens to be my birthstone! I always wanted to be a gemologist but having very young children at that time, just wouldn't allow me to leave for the course. Then, as the years went by, "life" got in the way...I finally ended up selling fine jewelry. That's as close as I got...but I loved my profession. Now I'm retired and not physically able.
