Schecter makes the most payable guitars I've ever played.

I used to be the guy who always found Schecter guitars iffy....always an Ibanez boy.
Hadn't played many Schecter guitars before either.

Today I bought a Schecter C1 SLS Elite.
Wasn't planning on buying it.
Played a Charvel pro mod first...
Played two Ibanez AZs.
Played Ibanez RG Premium and Prestige.
Played Jackson Pro series...
Played PRS SE Custom 24..
Played Fender Player Strat....

Went across, saw the Schecter CQ SLS Elite....picked it up, played it.
The guitar pretty much "self chose" itself.
Never touched and played a guitar that good in a while. Spoke to me instantly....
For around 1200 USD....you get SS frets, locking tuners, earnie ball nut.... hipshot bridge.... Fishman Fluence pickups....ultra thin C neck... lightweight neck through body. Looked like a beast, played and handled like a beast.

Been playing many years...own a Les Paul....can more or less play most stuff today after two decades of playing almost.

If people hate on Schecter, they don't understand guitars. I didn't. I was humbled. They are fantastic guitars by a fantastic brand. They have history, they have quality, they have value for money. They are worth it and just watch how they climb.

I don't know what's cooler... the guitars or your yellow-green shag rug, that thing was beautiful.

I've had a Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S for 5 years and it's been my go to lead machine. Just got a CV-5 bass. They're awesome quality for the price.

I was at guitar center the other day and picked up a Schecter- thing was terribly set up cause the employees don't care but even with a bowed neck the thing was amazingly easy to play. I picked up guitars from a couple other brands, even an RG Premium (my primary guitar for 15 years has been a base model RG I've customized) I thought I'd really enjoy and none had as much mojo or ease of playability as the Schecter.

Schecter guitar has a bad rep? Now tell me the one about the blonde who walked into a bar. My Diamond series Hellraiser a phenomenal guitar, it covers everything from smooth clean and mellow, to ( insert heaviest band you know here) and all points in between, my V platinum can shred with the best, I became a total shill for them over 12 years ago, and I’ve played everything out there and ditched them all for schecter. And I’ve been playing for over 30 years

I only hear good about Schecter save but a few stories here and there. Their name may not be the “In” thing to have on stage but I don’t think many guitarist would bitch about playing one. They are great instruments for working class musicians.

Ill begin with an anecdotal story from many years ago. As a young teen I always looked up to the guitar players in my favorite bands for inspiration on guitar choices for myself. I figured good enough for kirk and James well heck i MUST need the same to be successful?! Of course after playing their mid range vs. Japan and USA build instruments I quickly realized that the name badge isn't everything and eventually settled with a Korean made LTD valued at much less then its USA shop brothers and sisters but sounded so darn close I couldn't be bothered to care what was on the headstock! After several years of debating over what guitar to get to round out my stable I've stumbled into the Schecter brand and have been completely blown away! Looking at my first seven string the Keith marrow mk-III seven string it's components vs. Price compared to ANY other manufacturer is miles ahead! After testing one out I fell in love and patiently wait for mine to arrive at my local shop for pickup. Long answer = we are all influenced by either our own perception, marketing, bad advice from friends or other players etc. The list goes on... the solution? Just try a guitar for yourself because most reviews are bias and won't apply to you and your personal taste and situation.

I don't get it either. Every Schecter I've played has been a wonderful instrument for their price range.

The association with once being a cringy edgy teenager and having a Schecter must have been ingrained in many people.
They're an edgy brand, and that won't speak to everyone. But like, I'm a 31 year old goth - there's something fun about being a little edgy. 🤷‍♀️

I was looking for a new guitar and went to Guitar Center thinking I'd sample few higher end Epiphone Les Pauls. I ended up purchasing a Schecter Extreme 6 and absolutely love it.

When i was younger i played a Schecter Strat at a music store in Worcester. It was salmon metallic with a mirror pickguard covered humbuckers and a Kahler. It had that undeniable thing. It was beautiful and i never forgot about it. Fast forward to last year, talking to a lady at a yard sale, i mentioned that i go to yard sales looking for guitars. She says her son has guitars and one or two for sale. He came out with a Schecter C1 helraiser hybrid FRS. Trans black over quilt with carbon fiber binding sustaniac paired with an EMG. Ebony board 24 frets, Gorgeous though badly neglected. Just to be friendly, because i cant afford a guitar like that, i ask how much. I wont say how much but lets just say that, considering how it cleaned up and set up like a brand new guitar, the price was way way way low. I love it so much. Im 50 and have grown away from that style of guitars over the years but that one speaks to my inner 16 year old self in a whole new language!

As someone who has played this brand since the beginning, 15 years ago I started playing guitar and having 8 models. I can honestly say they are hands down the best brand. They are constantly keeping up with modern features, like the sustainiac, stainless steel frets and parts, among other amenities, and thier QC is alwaystop notch. Some of the best fretwork I've ever felt, import or not. The price points are unbeatable.vAs for why people don't like Schecter? I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes I think it's the bands or artists they are associated with maybe? at least in my city that always seemed to be the case. No one could ever actually give me a solid reason as to why. Yet, every time they played one of my guitars they were blown away. The reason I love and still buy them is because I know what I'm going to get every time. All the features I need are there.

Didn't know this was a thing. I was always a guitar snob until I bought an Evil Twin. Blows anything Gibson makes at half the price.

I am by no means a MUSICIAN, not even a guitar PLAYER. Having admitted that, I was fortunate. I saw it on sweetwater and liked the looks. Schecter C1 Blackjack Diamond Series. The seller did the 55 point thing and i asked them to do a setup. Has really both impressed and challenged . EBONY BOARD and STAINLESS FRETS. LOVE IT.

I took a chance a few years back and grabbed a Schecter PT Fastback II cause it looked cool and the price was right to flip if I didn't like it. Gotta tell you I love that thing. It is a work horse, I play it almost every weekend and it's always the first I grab from my selection. I've heard of a few guys swapping the pups for some Crema's and I may do the same down the road cause I love them Lambertones but that doesn't mean the stock pups are bad. That guitar is a beast and can hang in many genres. I considered the Coupe when I was recently shopping for a hollow body but Gretsch took the prize there and for good reason. Schecter is a respectable company that has been around for some time and make quality stuff for sure.
