Speaking from his home in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discusses the federal government's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. The prime minister is in a 14-day period of self-isolation following confirmation that his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, has tested positive for the virus.

Later, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, join Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and federal ministers Patty Hajdu (health), Steven Guilbeault (Canadian heritage), Bill Blair (public safety and emergency preparedness), Marc Garneau (transport), and Treasury Board President Jean-Yves Duclos to provide an update and respond to questions from reporters.

At the 6:00 mark on the tape Trudeau talks about invoking the Emergency Measures Act. He is referencing the Emergencies Act that was passed to replace the War Measures Act and is conflating the two names. Perhaps he is translating the official French name for the law "La loi sur les mesures d'urgence") into English, which actually comes out to the Emergency Measures Act. A more literal translation of the English name would be "La loi sur les urgences". Who knows? Who cares? This is a clown who doesn't know whether he is speaking to the Japanese PM or the Chinese president, doesn't know whether he just spoke to the Iranian president or the Iranian prime minister.. He's useless. These briefings by Trudeau should cease and he should leave communications on the COVID-19 developments to his ministers and to government officials.
