I have had the same happen to me - my way of dressing in the UK compared to France, where I was raised, has drastically changed over the years. The first time I came to the UK, I was absolutely gobsmacked by the way people dressed a lot more freely, and have invested money over the years into clothes my people would consider weird and/or risque. It's really fun to notice the difference!
