Don't you just hate it when you select a mission just a little too soon, and the orbit hasn't quite been secured yet?

***spacebattles my beloved, how much I hope to see some in-game. I've been toying around with new stuff like camera shake, lasers, and the planet backgrounds. Mainly just putting off finally modeling the pelican.

Imagine introducing space battles or an operation like the beginning of Halo 3 ODST where you deploy your drop capsules to an enemy ship to destroy it from the inside.

The whole time Helldivers 2 has been out, I've been wondering where the Automaton ships are, they have to be traveling from planet to planet somehow, I would LOVE to see space battles like this, and more stuff revolving around space itself.
Also I want a mission type where we take out the planetary anti-ship weapons that are often seen destroying human ships

Imagine if helldivers just beome a multi environment battle where you have space air naval and ground battles every thing is accounted for

Naval operations would add a whole new layer to the game, it would be so cool.

imagine, a major order comes out to “Invade (planet)” and the first step is breaking through the blockade and establishing orbital control. you’d warp in and then complete objectives in orbit contributing to “system-liberation” before you get access to the planet.

OR once theres like 25% orbital liberation, ground operations open up and for a brief time (while the space battle is happening) Stratagems are disabled (cuz the Super Destroyers are fighting) BUT difficulty is much easier and theres special missions on the surface that contribute to Orbital liberation (like destroying a ground cannon firing on ships in orbit). Once the space battle is won, regular operations open up.

That's pretty gorgeous, I really do love the visuals of getting shot at from the surface but it'd be great to see some Automaton vessels off in the distance during a planetary defence with some shots going back and forth.

Man, I am like 100% sure I saw large ships in orbit shooting at Super Earth destroyers while on foot days ago. I am sure those were Automaton ships, imagine if we could board those things to destroy those from within, no airstrikes, only pain and suffering

I think depending on the liberation % of a planet, the space scenes show reflect that. Like at 0% it's an epic space battle with fighter craft dogfighting and such while pods are being deployed and as the % increases the fighting dwindles down to a point of occasional, random Anti-orbital fire that would miss your ships them eventually to complete calm in space when closer to full liberation. if we are attacking a planet, it should look it. but in time we might see that.

I would ABSOLUTELY love to see this effect as the war progresses. Would probably only happen vs automatons and illuminate though.

Imagine in loading cutscenes your hellpod may occasionally crash through an automaton ship, destroying it and leaving your pod in tact and in course

Contested orbital zone
Orbital attacks such as 380 mm, 120 mm common orbital attack not available (as the superdestructor is using them)
call-in times randomized nailed it too

Seeing those destroyers getting shutdown, I was thinking it would be nice seeing them fall while we're at the planet battling and out of nowhere a destroyer is falling at the sky

i feel this would be pretty appropiate for automatron contested worlds, battling robot fighters and cruisers in orbit and once it's clear you can land. something like that
