Mega Man 11 Producer Comments on Bass, Proto Man, & DLC!

Protodude's Rockman Corner recently had a chance to ask Mega Man 11 Producer, Kazuhiro Tsuchiya some questions regarding the game - among them was why certain characters were excluded and whether Mega Man 11 will be expanded upon in the future. I wouldn't mind Mega Man 12 putting a bigger focusing on Proto Man or Bass in that case.

It seems the producers used Mega Man 11 to test the waters and see if people would enjoy a new Mega Man game after all this time. Now with its positive reception and sales, they’ll likely go all out for Mega Man 12 and include Proto Man, Bass, possible connections to the X series etc.

I kind of want Protoman and Bass to be playable myself. They are iconic characters from the Megaman series as Protoman appeared in 5 and 3, all the way up to Megaman 10. And it is the same with Bass as he has first appeared in Megaman 7 then went up to Megaman 10. I just hope that Protoman and Bass become DLC soon as I would love to see how their voices will go and to see the 3 playable characters that make the iconic buster trio.

Making a past event the focus of Mega Man 11 was a very smart move. New players get to quickly understand the dynamics between the core cast, and long-time fans get some extra details behind the characters' motivations. That said, it is kinda weird to shelve Proto Man and Bass to accomplish that since each of them exemplify the very philosophies espoused by Light and Wily respectively.

It’d be great if we got a Protoman and Bass were added in via DLC eventually.

Basically we still need to wait more months until they review the sales numbers and decide to proceed with anything. Not sure if this game is going to sell more on black friday or any further.

Personally I'm waiting for Zero, ZX and Legends collections if they want to do EXE and Ryuusei too they are also welcome.

So a non answer, but seeing as spoilers are super no-nos in Japan I guess we'll have to wait and see if enough people buy the game enough to warrant DLC. I love 11, but it's a tad short
