We can an incredible spinoff and continuation of The Addams Family legacy with the Netflix series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega. Wednesday Addams endures some tumultuous experiences in her new home at Nevermore Academy, but what goes on behind the scenes can almost be a bit crazier! In this video, we’ll be looking at all of the special and practical effects that bring this incredible show to life. We can’t have a Wednesday video without talking about her amputated sidekick, Thing! We’re constantly learning more and more about how that character was created. For one, did you know that even in the 90s, Thing was played by a magician? Dexterity is extremely important when it comes to who is able to play the role. There were also a ton of subtle CGI moments that you might’ve missed. One instance was at Wednesday’s old school. If you happened to come across where it was shot, you’d notice that the roof looks completely different in the show. A lot of little moments like that – particularly rooftops – were altered with CGI. There were even a ton of sets built at Buftea Studios that you would never suspect weren’t completely real. Jenna Ortega’s stunt double, Jenny Ayumi, also did an incredible job making these difficult sequences look easy. She actually was almost crushed by a gargoyle! It was an incredibly close call! We’ll be getting into all of this and more – get ready, Nevermore, we’re here to spill every one of your secrets.

I loved the updated look of "The Thing" for Wednesday. The scars actually give the character, some character. And the hand motions were pretty well done too.

I’m happy most of it was practical, I just thought the monster and werewolf cgi were a little too goofy and didn’t quite match the darker tone of the rest of the show

Wednesday is a lot of macabre fun; Jenna Ortega gives a typically terrific performance in the iconic title role and Tim Burton’s direction brings the show to life. But the series is held back by a crucial misstep as
the monster would be much more effective if it was created with a spooky practical effect instead of lifeless CGI.

Wednesday is a great new series with a lot going for it, but it’s let down by an ugly-looking CG monster that’s more laughable than frightening.

Got a couple things wrong in this vid. The tree wire pull stunt was done by Jenny (stunt double) not Jenna, for the close-ups Jenna is standing on a platform and the no faces are 100% practical prosthetics not CGI

As a vfx artist the no face people were most likely practical. It would be very difficult to remove the faces from the characters if they’re not the main focus. They mostly did some makeup

I greatly underestimated the CGI usage. I thought the only CGI was the Hyde and some other small things. It's pretty cool to understand and see the dedication of all the creators and makes me wonder how long a second season would really take!

Bruh, Tim Burton kind of looks like the Hyde…

The big eyes on Hyde really has that signature Tim Burton design style, which reminds me so much of Corpse Bride

People sometimes don't realise how much "work" goes into making films behind the scenes, big kudos to all those hard workers that create the amazing video magic and make it so awesome! Thank you

If Crack stone has magic isn't he technically an outcast himself I mean he is definitely not a normie.

If crackstone has powers, surely he would be an outcast too😂!?¿

The faceless people were actually not CGI. Someone (I think Jenna) said they did that in make-up and Tim Burton loved it so he put them in clear sight.

Edit: They had breathing holes under their chin

"They practiced it on her stunt-double first to make sure it was safe". I know it's their job but that sounds so wrong, as if their life/safety was worth less than the actress' o.0
