Forgotten Spaces

Показать описание
‘’In the shadow of history we live on, oblivious of the wise shade it has cast upon us’’. Angelina Saunders aims to outline the embodiment of this statement in her talk "Forgotten Spaces" highlighting the spaces that hold historical significance in Southern African nations. With the pressing need to pay homage to historical sites and their previous inhabitants, an untapped potential for cultural growth is presented to us, and we should therefore remain ever vigilant of our environment.
The talk references locations that the speaker has visited, and has attachments to re their own cultural heritage. As both a tourist, and a local of the spaces outlined, the speaker reminds us of the importance and benefits of being aware of the past and how that plays into present day through the spaces we pass through, so as to have a greater sense of empathy and awareness for the environment around us.
