I Made a Coffee Cup out of A Rock

I am so excited to show you this rock mug I made! I still can't believe I made a coffee cup out of a rock. This thing will never break that's for sure! It took many hours and a lot of trial and error. It's composition is some kind of igneous rock, if you can ID it in the comments I would greatly appreciate it. Excellent real life example of why these are made with clay instead of carved from rocks. The amount of time was just enormous. Very cool mug!

If you get a big enough core drill, you could save yourself a huge chunk of time for getting the cylindrical shape :)

When I was in school to become blacksmith and stone masoner artisan, I made like 180 or so pendant ocarinas out of stone. Used certain very hard black stone for most of them. You should try to make potato or pendant ocarina, they sound so damn good when made out of stone and it's nice little challenge to figure out right tone/notes etc for each hole.
