It is written in the Book of Jonah:
"And had prepared Yahweh a fish great to swallow Yonah" (Jonah 1:17)
The Hebrew text of this verse for the fish
is דג גדול (Dag gadol) means a great fish, here the gender of the fish is masculine, [Dictionary of Strong's Hebrew 1709 דג].
But in the next verse it is written:
"And prayed Jonah to Yahweh his God from belly of the fish" (Jonah 2:1)
The Hebrew text of this verse for the fish
is הדגה(hadagah), here the gender of the fish is feminine,
[Dictionary of Strong's Hebrew 1710 דָּגָה].
This word הדגה does not appear to be the collective term for fish, but is the infinite absolute (hiphil stem) of the Hebrew verb דגה (with the prefix הַ⁠ reflecting the hiphil stem), which means to cover (in darkness), Gesenius also indicates that the infinitive absolute may function as a verbal noun.
How is it possible that Jonah was swalloed by a male fish but he prayed inside from a female one?
Answer:
The word דג(dag) which is commonly translated as "fish", Although it primarily means "to cover with darkness" as written below:
The root of the word דג(dag) is dagah דָּגָה which primarily means to cover, like the Arab. دَجَا to cover over; hence to be dark, comp. the kindred roots دَجَّ, دجل, دجم, دجن also دَحَّ, of all which the primary idea is that of covering; as also Hebr. דָּגַל,  דָּגַר; also the words in other languages, tego,  τέγος,  στέγω, in the old German Dialects, dagen, dachen, decken; this verb is applied to multitude and plenty covering over everything.

The common translation:
"And was Jonah in the belly of the fish, three days and three nights" (Jonah 1:17)
here the hebrew text is "במעי הדג" means "In the belly of the fish". here the word מעי(meeh) means inside, internal or inward parts or depth of a thing, for example it is written in Psalm 40:9 "Thy law is in the midst of my bowels ותורתך בתוך מעי׃" i.e set deeply in my soul.

Hence the common translation of the word "במעי הדג" is "In the belly of the fish", but according to all above authentic refrences the expression "במעי הדג" originally means
"In the deepth of the darkness".
Similar case is with the verse (Jonah 2:1):
"And prayed Jonah to Yahweh his God from belly of the fish". The expression "ממעי הדגה׃" commonly translated as "from belly of the fish" but again it primarily or originally mean "from depth of the darkness".
"And was Jonah in the depth of the darkness, three days and three nights" (Jonah 1:17)

We must Embrace this primarily idea of these verses because this primarily idea has a support of the eternal and final words of ALLAH Azawajjal namely the Quran:
فَنَادٰى فِىۡ الظُّلُمٰتِ اَنۡ لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡتَ سُبۡحٰنَكَ ‌ۖ اِنِّىۡ كُنۡتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‌
But then he cried out in the deep darkness [of his distress]: "There is no deity save Thee! Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! Verily, I have done wrong!" [Quran 21:88].
In all the three instances where Jonah's "great fish" is explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an (as "alHut" in 37:142 and in 68:48, and an-nun in 21:87), it carries the definite article al. This may possibly be due to the fact that the legend of Jonah was and is so widely known that every reference to the allegory of "the great fish" is presumed to be self-explanatory. The inside of the fish that "swallowed" Jonah apparently symbolizes the deep darkness of spiritual distress of which 21:87 speaks: the distress at having "fled like a runaway slave" from his prophetic mission and, thus, "from the presence of the Lord". Parenthetically, the story is meant to show that, since "man has been created weak" (4:28), even prophets are not immune against all the failings inherent in human nature.

The biblical meaning off repent isn't to stop sinning for salvation . If it was the nobody would earn salvation and Jesus died for nothing .
The biblical meaning is to change your mind . God cannot sin, right ! so if repent means to stop sinning then in Jonah 3:10 God can sin . In Acts 2 Peter was speaking to the Jews 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The Jews had to repent from keeping the law and sacrificing animals when they broke the law and believed that their sins were paid for then they were baptized not in water but in the spirit and then they received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Luke 15:10: "In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
A sinner who repents is still a sinner but a saved sinner . You are not born again in the spirit unless you believe on the finished work of Christ.
