my grandpa used to play this for my grandma every day but after his stroke he couldn’t play piano anymore. She told me this a few weeks ago and now I want to learn this piece, so I can play it for my grandma on her birthday as remembrance to her deceased husband.

"The first movement in 'Pathétique' is the current despair we live in.
The third movement gives us a little bit of hope.
And the second movement that ties them both together is love."

- Cosette

So many hundreds of hours. practicing. Played this sonata, memorized 35 pages, played it perfectly for recital. No record of it. No video or audio. Could never possibly play it again. Such is life

The second movements are probably the least popular in all Beethoven sonatas; but they have such a relaxed feeling to them, it’s beyond this world. Also maybe the calm before the storms his third movements usually are.
Would love to hear the third movement of this one though, it’s among my most favourite pieces and have some crazy memories attached to it :D

That one note in the main melody sounds so good. So melancholic. Y’all know what I’m talking abt right

Beethoven’s prices sound like the notes were just meant to be together he was such a genius

My dad used to play this when I was a baby. Probably went something like:
D - What piece could I play to make him sleep?
M - Is there any song called "Please F-ing stop screaming?"
D - I know one called "The pathetic"
M - That suits him too

This song means a lot to me. It was played by my mom on the flute on my 1st birthday. And since then it was used to get me to sleep. Few years ago, i remembered this song and now that i play the piano, i can learn this peace easily. Now i use it to relax myself whenever i feel sad and whenever i've lost all hope. This song brings my hope back and then i'll tell myself that it all will be alright.

This is, in my opinion, one of the calmest (ad one of the most beautiful, though) pieces of Beethoven's
Thanks, Kassia, for uploading such a marvellous piece

I like the outline visuals here. Really beautiful and melodic playing too, great execution! This was one of the first pieces I tried to learn, kinda easy in technique but hard in interpretation. I should try this and the 3rd movement next time!

There’s something about this song. Usually I don’t like listening to modern music and even a lot of older music because some of them give me this sense of sadness and discomfort that I can’t explain. I’m not one of those “nowadays music sucks” that’s not me, I love a lot of modern music, but most contemporary music to me just makes me feel uncomfortable. However; this is the first song in a while where I find comfort in the way it sounds, it’s so beautiful to me I can’t really explain why. It helps me fall asleep, and something about how it slowly ascends and then descends back in the beginning just brings me so much peace…
