Meh you can get the extra phlebotomy certification as a medical assistant. Sure. But you won't get many chances to use it. Lab staff gets called for blood collection 99% of the time. I've seen many nurses and MA's who are certified but never do it cuz "hey let's just get lab to do it." So if you plan on renegotiating your salary with that certification it's most likely not gonna go anywhere.

Ms. K, have you always felt confident about blood draws? I have to admit, it’s always been a bit of a struggle for me. I get so nervous when I need to draw blood, and it really has nothing to do with the blood itself. Working at a wound care center, it’s definitely not about that. I think it’s more the worry about potentially hurting the patient. I find myself shaking every time. Do you have any tips on how I can overcome this?

If you want to do all of it should you do ma and a phlebotomist school or just ma? I just don’t understand if ma can draw blood why do they need to get a phlebotomist certificate?
