Chase, take it as a compliment ! There are many ways to approach the material. This is your interpretation and method for playing the George Benson style. As a matter of fact, your teaching method is so much more informative and easy to understand than other teachers out there. Take any such criticism with a grain of salt and let it roll off your back and pay it no mind. Keep doing what you are doing, which certain others AREN'T DOING, and that is building a community of players that are motivated and appreciate the fresh approach to teaching that you are so good at !

Chase, thank you for all the stuff you make available, knowledge you share, and all that for free. Don’t let any haters get you down, there’s a thousand times more silent admirers than people that feel the need to judge you

I thank the Montreal jazz festival for the memories of a 1989 BB King and George Benson double bill. What I think may have been so inviting and accessible for many guitar music lovers is that Benson had both feet in the jazz and pop world. He did not discriminate between the two and what he was able to showcase within each helped serve the song, the music and the listener. As great as BB was, George did not need King as a last name. Thank you for sharing his secrets. 🙏

Chase Maddox is an innovative teacher who makes learning jazz guitar interesting and exciting. Working through his tutorials have helped me a great deal. I've been playing jazz for over 40 years.

Thanks Chase. I just crept slowly past the age of 90 and you are a bright spot in my life. I play C/W and have been trying to learn jazz for several years. To me, music is a language and you are one of very few who seem to teach it as such. It is amazing how you and other greats speak your own language on guitar. Keep teaching and know that you are appreciated. You make it easier.

Chase. Read the Peter Farrell comments regarding criticisms of your approach to Benson lines featured in this lesson. I can only say I have viewed several of your jazz lessons -- and Peter's -- and have found elements in both -- that I find valuable and helpful. I support you both -- and hope that you continue to provide quality material for jazz guitar students like myself.

I think you're doing great job helping guitarists to find their OWN way of expression and after all that's what it matters.
Don't get discouraged by nasty comments.

Chase, I closely follow several guitar instruction channels on YouTube and find your materials and approach to be top-notch. Most recently I've memorized your book of ii-V-I licks in all keys and it is a centerpiece of my practice routine as I work to develop a vocabulary of jazz phrases. I really appreciate your approach and find that you have much to offer aspiring jazz guitarists such as myself. Thanks and I look forward to continuing to learn from the content you create and share.

Excellent info as usual. I love that you slow down to show us the fingering. Many channels do not do that. Cudos!

Chase you are expressing and teaching your interpretation of George Benson music and talent. I for one appreciate you a lot for what you have been sharing on helping me with my playing and understanding of musical theory. As the saying goes, the dog barks, as the caravan goes on. Keep up the good work.

I am always fascinated by listening pros like you explaining how to read and execute lines from great musicians like GB (my favorite, by the way). By listening to many interpretations and way of looking at it I am learning a lot. Thanks for this great video

I am not usually one to comment, but I do thoroughly appreciate Chase Maddox’s approach to the guitar. The nuance and detail he includes in his lessons is unlike anything I have ever really come across. I am working through his PDF on arpeggios and I feel like it has made me a better and faster player.

You guys are so talented! I admire you so much as musicians and as people. There's nothing these guys don't know. They are professionally trained musicians. You can just watch and listen. They hold their own and are quite successful musicians in their own right. My husband and son have been taught by Chase. They are the best! Bar none.

Peter who? Lol. I’ve been following Chase’s channel from the beginning. Instantly connected with his teaching style and content. I follow many YouTube channels but consider Chase’s one of my main sources for weekly insight, lessons, etc. Also have purchased many of his online books. All combined the information has pushed my playing to new levels. And he has never touted that he’s an expert on other artists playing or techniques but rather gives listeners ideas to use as a springboard. Chase if you have people criticizing your work you know you’re doing something right! Keep the killer content coming!

You are definitely one of the better YouTube Jazz instructors out there. Ignore the negative feedbacks and keep it coming. I’m always learning things from what you teach, after all Isn’t that what it’s all about.
