I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Never fished one, threw it on my UL spinner, walked to the neighborhood pond and caught one on the 3rd cast with your teachings. Thank you!

Just please keep putting out videos like this. There is a huge difference between the things a pro does and the things a guy who fishes once a month does. So grateful to be able to learn on here.

Great advice . Most anglers were taught like you 1st. Said Matt to cast it out + let drop straight down to bottom + most fish hit on the fall like we were taught . + bring it up + fall again. Now 3 different ways to experiment with a ned rig . Excellent information.

Your 3rd retrieve is what works for me, on the smallmouth near me. I was glad to hear you were doing this too, I thought I was weird. Or doing something wrong. Catching huge numbers like this! Like 15-20 bass in 4 hours. I use the ocho in GP, in one lake and morning dawn in the other. What I have noticed about my smallies, they want it moving. Even my top waters, any pause turns them away. A slow steady retrieve makes them commit. Great video!

Matt, i am part of that 90% most of the time and these videos are MORE than valuable to me. I am not offended because it has helped me a LOT, even here in South Africa. Stunning channel and video.

Thank you for finally explaining the intention of the Ned rig. Most people teach dragging on the bottom. Not denying that works, but a shaky head already does that. Great explanation of the correct ways to Ned

I appreciate your videos a great deal, don't change for anyone. People need to understand that you have fished for a living! I don't care how successful any one of us has been on any given day. You are supporting your family on what you know.... that's a huge difference. Thanks again for what you do. Be safe everyone, straight lines!

Matt, I just got into Ned Rig. I used the first retrieve today and first cast, got a bass ! So awesome. Thank you so much for your teachings and experience. You and one other youtuber I focus on than any other to learn bass fishing. Thank you so much, Matt ! Peace

Spot on with your approach. I’ve been fishin the Ned for years, and the most productive retrieve I have found is 2 small pops, followed by a big 9 to 12 arm hop.

Matt DO NOT change a thing your content is unquestionably among the best
I FIRMLY believe that 90% of fisherman either do more things wrong than they'd like to admit or could do them much better
I base this on being honest about myself and literally 90% of the anglers I fished with as an adult over the last 40% years
Although I've never been in a single fishing competition I have traveled to over 10 states and Canada for the sole purpose of fishing and have done dule purpose vacations to 10 or 12 more states where I spent over 50% of the vacation just fishing.
I learned over the years few fisherman are as good as they think they are or wish they were
Content like yours Matt helps fisherman of all skill levels become better and for guys like me on the lower skills set much better

Keep on doing what you do . People are missing the big picture. You are putting out content to help people better themselves as fishermen. Who cares about the percentage . Thank you .
