Game Theory 101 (#27): Probability Distributions

Making slight changes to a player's payoff changes the game's mixed strategy Nash equilibrium. Rather than solve all of these minor changes individually, it would be nice if we had a general formula which could solve all versions of a game at once. We will work toward that in this unit.

However, to ensure that the results of the generalized game actually make sense, we must be able to correctly identify valid probability distributions. This lecture is the first step in that direction.

i love how this is both obvious and not obvious at the same time. it is almost every day interaction quantified in a logical way (i.e. people have to make decisions like going to the ballet with the woman or going to the fight with the man for more gratification than going to what you like the most without anyone all the time, otherwise you would never see males at twilight showings)

Your formula for the union is only true if the sets are disjoint. If not, you must account for the intersection. In this case, it's true, but the clarification doesn't hurt.

Giving it 110 percent is possible. If they scored 10 goals first game and 11 goals second game, I'd say they gave it 110 percent or another way around it is if they average ten points a game and score 11, that's giving 110 percent
