In an exclusive interview with The Project, Gunn admitted the saga left her struggling mentally and forced her to get off social media.

She said, “It’s really sad how much hate that it did evoke.. Also just due to people not being very familiar with breaking and the diversity of approaches in breaking.”

Raygun added, “But of course, there’s been a portion of very angry and… awful responses. Not only attacking me, but attacking my husband, attacking my crew, attacking my breaking and street community in Australia, my family. The energy and vitriol that people had was pretty alarming.”

The Project host Waleed Aly asked Raygun if she “genuinely” believed she was the best female breaker in Australia, to which the 36-year-old responded, “I think my record speaks to that. I was the top-ranked Australian B-Girl in 2020 and 2022 and 2023… so the record is there.”

Gunn admitted she had no idea that her performance would cause such a global stir and claimed she was disappointed at the uproar from critics who suggested her displays made a mockery of the sport and damaged the reputation of the breaking community.

She said, “I am very sorry for the backlash that the community has experienced, but I can’t control how people react.”

Their were amazing performances in the break dancing section of the Olympics, but in unfortunately got overshadowed by this.

Just like the amount of points she scored from judges, zero people care.

There is no way she was top ranked. Or Australians have no taste in break dancing.

If she knew how serious the Olympics was, especially for those in impoverished countries, she wouldn’t have done what she did but she sees the Olympics in the perspective of a privileged individual raised in a privileged country and got a reality check from the world.

I feel no sympathy.

Shouldn’t have been there pure and simple, it was a terrible performance for which she should apologize. Even though she believes it reflects on the break dance community - it does not.

She thinks breakdancing is only about pouting and hand gestures. She thinks making some gangsta poses will cut it.

❤She should not have to apologise to anyone, least of all people throwing abuse at her❤
She could be your mother, sister or daughter - Would those that are quick to poke fun and abuse, still say the same or maybe think that they have been treated unfairly, if it was a family or friend?
I doubt that she's short of friends, but I would be proud to call her a friend 🎉
