Reformed means that you are saved by faith alone, without the need for a priest.

It means to adhere to apostolic doctrine as the reformers pointed out which was needed due to the false teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. "Reformed"? Back the beginning of the Church. Original meaning. Original text as carefully translated to our present language. If any of you remember the late Rev. Edwin Elliott, Sr. And Rev. Elliott, Jr. of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Manassas, Virginia, one of the six that founded the Delmarva Presbytery of the new denomination of the Presbyterian Church in America, I think 1973?, They brought me along to the Reformed Presbyterian Faith.

This description of what it means to be “reformed” is not helpful. In its simplest form, they say it is to “believe the Bible” but other Protestants that had their origins based in the Reformation also believe the Bible in defining their theology. The Bible does not define “election” or “sovereignty” in the way that Calvin or others define it. Unfortunately, these terms have been hijacked by Calvinists and have been so narrowed that other verses in Scripture do not make sense in any reasonable way.

With that said, this video is fairly typical in not being able to succinctly define what it means to be reformed with any distinction from Calvinism.

Have we not made progress in a more accurate text and more thoughtful theological inferences that have more explanatory scope and depth?

Or has Reformed Theology and praxis become the very thing that Luther complained about Catholic theology and praxis 😅

Every time I hear an appeal to mystery by Reformers due to explanations that only make sense for a handful of scriptures but are incoherent when the full scriptural data are examined seems absurd😮

God loves us and doesn’t want ANY to parish but determines that many, maybe most will parish!!!

God dictates through his providence men’s desires so as to control their wills but that is said to be compatible with “free will.”

God condemns men to hell who no way to respond whatsoever

God condemns men to hell for sin they couldn’t have possibly NOT committed!😮

Every member of the panel knows that there is no coherent answer to these objections and dodges their interlocutors with appeals to ignorance or mystery.
