We are being starved of this level of discussion on the mainstream .... thank God for the internet and this channel.

Such a great interview. I am a long time Finkelstein watcher. He is a deeply ethical man who has not allowed careerism/political and cultural trends to guide his pursuit of the truth. Glenn is an extremely respectful and intellectually curious interviewer. He is very good at talking to people whom whom he does not agree politically. It is an exemplar of "good faith" discussion, which is so rare these days. Great respect to both of these men.

What I love about Glenn Loury's shows is that, whenever he debates an adversary who is rather far from him ideologically, as here with Finkelstein and earlier with Joy Gray, he tones it down, makes his points while trying to find common ground. And when he converses with someone relatively like-minded, like McWhorter, he gives it his all, plays the devil's advocate, and goes off on sublime rants.

Love him or hate Finkelstein is an extraordinary intellectual who comes across as brutally honest, forthright, and humble enough to compliment and acknowledge the accomplishments of those he may strongly disagree with. 👏 👏 👏

Glenn: Thank you for having Norman Finklestein on your podcast. It's been a while since I've seen him. Please, you owe it to yourself to see the debate between Dershowitz and Finklestein on Democracy Now. You will not regret it.

I am in finance and so I see first hand the vast number of individuals, companies, corporations, NGOs and governments that are making huge sums of money off of Woke/ESG. It is nothing but a wealth and power transfer from the working and middle class to the rich. (While at the same time trashing the Western ideals that made the wealth and power possible.)

Glenn's willingness to have Finkelstein on his show speaks to Glenn's intellectual curiosity, his generosity of spirit and his belief in allowing all viewpoints to be heard. I have many differences with Glenn politically but at his core he is a wonderful person and should be treasured by all of us.

On Finkelstein- many of the issues he deals with in his writing are among the most contentious issues. As such they deserve opposing viewpoints to be heard. I hope that Glenn has a follow up with someone who is familiar with Finkelstein's writing and has the academic and intellectual chops to thoughtfully discuss Finkelstein's positions.

Norman Finkelstein. What a mensch. What a man. What a humanist. I grew up in Greenwich Village surrounded by beautiful deeply human activists. I am a family friend of Paul Robeson's family. I met him. Like meeting Zeus. My mom worked with is son. This was an immensely moving show. Thank you so much for do this Glenn.

I stopped what I was doing to get into this interview - it is truly extraordinary. I looked up the Finkelstein / Dershowitz debate from 2003 on Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman and watched the whole thing before continuing on today's interview.

This discussion exists completely outside the bounds of modern-day identity politics.

Incredible! I probably share about 1% of Finkelstein's politics but his intellectual honesty, faculty and integrity is truly inspiring. A true mensch.

Much love for giving Dr. Finklestein a platform. He is an incredible courageous man. Watch him dismantle dershowitz in a debate on youtube.

I'm only 23 mins into this conversation and all i can hope is that you have him on more often. He said the line "as i'm coming to the end of his life". Which makes me think we need to have his voice out there on this platform. I hope he agrees to come back on.

Wow, Norman Phukin Finkelstein, he's fantastic, what a great guest! Didn't know of him but certainly enjoyed his riff and your allowing and chuckling and directing of the conversation Glenn. It is so refreshing to hear actual conversation and debate and Mr Finkelstein is a wonderfully broad interesting thinker, Great Show!!

I came across Finkelstein back in my naive socialist days. I remember reading about him in a collection of Chomsky interviews I had and was moved by his story. I looked him up, and it was only a few months after that that the Dershowitz debate took place. I remember watching it obsessively, over and over. It was a complete tour de force by Norm, absolutely ripped that charlatan to shreds over the course of 2 hours. It was exhilerating. And then I read all of his books voraciously. Norm was my first real intellectual hero. And a gateway to many more.

Almost 20 years on, I'm now a committed classical liberal, and I spend far more of my time reading and listening to Glenn. But my admiration for Norm hasn't wavered "one thousandth of one inch". Principled, courageous, rigorous, self-aware, and brilliant. His treatment by the intellectual mainstream was an absolute disgrace, but no surprises there. I see similar qualities in Glenn, despite their vastly different bigoraphies and politics. Two intellectual heavyweights, both genuinely interested in truth and justice. It's a privilege to be able to see exchanges like this. Keep up the fantastic work Glenn!
