Come with me as I walk round Wakefield City Centre, filming in 4k.

Filmed in January 2024, I walk around the civic buildings and main sights of Wakefield City Centre. Wakefield is a cathedral city on the River Calder in West Yorkshire, England.

In 1888, it was one of the last group of towns to gain city status due to having a cathedral. The city has a town hall and county hall, as the former administrative centre of the city's county borough and metropolitan borough as well as county town to both the West Riding of Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, respectively.

Wakefield became an important market town and centre for wool, exploiting its position on the navigable River Calder to become an inland port. In the 18th century, Wakefield traded in corn, coal mining and textiles. The city had a population of 99,251 in the 2011 census.

It is part of the West Yorkshire Built-up Area and the Yorkshire and The Humber region. The district borough, governed from the city, had a 2020 population of 348,312, the 21st most populous district in England.

But apart from all that, Wakey is a great place to be! So, come with me and have a look around!

1 minutes 10 seconds in that's my face on some of those "Real Live Degrees" walls, and I hate it 😅.
