Hey Makers!
I saw someone drumming on an algebra text book with two wooden sticks. I think he was studying log rhythms.

Bark on the outside of the sapwood when left on, has a very primitive, organic natural look. But while this look may seem simple to achieve…I mean, just slice a branch into segments…it often times has a bitter end result: the bark falls off and leaves the sapwood edge showing. There is a way that will give you a slight advantage to keeping that bark on. First it’s important to understand that between the bark and the sapwood there’s a very thin membrane called the ’cambial layer’. During the growing season these walls are watery and fragile as sugar is carried by sap to the cambial layer to create new growth rings. This means that the bark becomes easily removed due to that fragile layer.

During the dormant months, on the other hand, the walls thicken as growth pauses. Water recedes at this point and the bark is much more firmly connected. This is the time to cut the tree or tree branch down that you intend on keeping that bark edge.

Thank you to my patrons!

Good thought, thank you. I noticed your disk had split, and I’ve inherited a table with a similar split, any suggestions on how to deal with such please?
