Was nodding my head and agreeing with you about the overreaction and horrible U.S. foreign policy until you uttered the words poverty and capitalism. Those are mutually opposed. Capitalism obliterates poverty by maximizing efficiency of production (facilitated by the profit motive), whereas socialism/communism leaves us destitute. I wish we had a bit more capitalism in the world.
