Who else is watching this epic building in Ghana video in 2024 and thinking I wished I came across this video a year ago?

Why do you need Wawa boards for the profiling these boards are very expensive so as a builder in other to help your clients reduce some unnecessary cost you can help by soliciting these boards from friends or old projects for the starting column? Wawa boards are expensive and you can easily use 2x2 lumber just for the setting out.
My advice get some used boards that you can use for at least 5 or more clients depending on how you use it. Then during the continuous columns the new boards for those columns and also for the lentil, beam and all the top columns.

I believe the first thin to be done should be the a soil test.
That is the most important part of a construction project. Moisture Content Test is a very important test for building construction. This will determine the kind of foundation and footing concrete you’ll be doing as a builder or engineer.

It all depends on if you can find good builders and labors. Because l been in Ghana 2 years and the building times here depends on your ability to pay for everything you need to complete a build. I seen places start building but takes a few years to complete.

As some visitors already mentioned, the building process should start with a soil research. Normally, even before you buying a land. It can save more money than the whole building is projected.
The land should be visited/studied in the raining season. In the dry season, all land looks maybe fine and in the raining season out of the sudden it might develop into a water logged area, which is a completely different building caliber, especially concerning the costs.
All foundations should be built as if water will reach the house. All materials for the foundation should be waterproof!!! Cement and the blocks until soil level should be made with the right chemicals, meanwhile they are on the market.
Waterproof rubber (300micron) shoukd be used in all trenches BEFORE any concrete is casted anywhere

I use one bag for hundred blocks.
Even today when I was building an extension, I used one bag for 95 blocks.
So it comes down to the thickness of the mortar bed joint and the perps

Good info. The trenches don't look 3 fts deep though. A little advice, over bargaining leads to workers leaving your site. Give your workers moderate rate and let them start and complete the house, instead of different hands.

I agree with you about the laundry room. It should not be in the kitchen. Not sure but it could be a British design. We don’t have that kind of design in the US.
