It says "10 ounces of guaranteed gold panning paydirt!". This means they guarantee 10 ounces of dirt, not gold. But I agree that it is fairly deceiving...

I'll be the rare "dissenter" here I guess... As a complete newb I purchased the 5 lb bag from the same company you did which came with a free gold pan, a little plastic pipette, and a small glass vial a couple of years ago. I believe I paid around $30-35 for the kit. It was a birthday present for my son, and it sat unopened in his room for the last couple of years. This weekend we finally cracked it open and spent about 4 hours carefully panning through all of it. Just like your bag, it was obviously play sand. I did most of the panning work and my son loved sucking up the tiny flakes. There was one "nugget" approximately 1mm in diameter, which was a super exciting surprise. It even clinks around in the glass vial when you shake it! I'm certain I missed some gold, but my technique got pretty good by the end and after re-panning nearly all of it I just found 2 more microscopic flakes. Of course there was nowhere near $30 worth of gold, but maybe $10? I have to say for a complete idiot like me it was tremendous fun spending all that quality time with my kid, carefully chasing tiny specks of gold. So, for ENTERTAINMENT purposes, well worth every penny! Plus now we have a gold pan we can take on camping trips :-)
To be sure, I wouldn't make the purchase again - instead I'd just dump the gold flakes back into the sand and re-pan it for the experience.

This company is the Mc Donalds of paydirt. It's annoying how they flood the ebay listings with all these various listings under different names. I just did a vid on their "Mammoth" bag. Had pretty much the same results. All the same dirt with different labels tossed on it. Their pages are super clickbait with just the right imagery and wording to throw off people new to the hobby.

This is how new I am, yesterday I've received my order for a beginner panning kit and the kits comes with a sample bag of paydirt. I was surprised to see 9 little flakes of gold.
So now I and doing my homework of which paydirt I should buy first

Geesh! You'd of found more gold in the bottom of a bottle of Goldschläger.

Its pretty bad when the liquor store offers a better gold investment, than a paydirt company does.
