They’re done with Touch ID. Face ID is better. Also, I think having both is a worse user experience. Apple wants to make the iPhone as easy and simple to use as possible and having two authentication methods is more confusing and implies to the user that Face ID is not good enough on its own. Good design is focused.

The reason why its underrated is because most people using face id actually forget about it.

Change back to touchid for a week and you’ll really start appreciating it more

I think the problem is that people forget about overhead and R&D costs. They look at a piece of hardware and think, “hey that fingerprint reader is a lot cheaper than the Face ID cameras”, completely forgetting Apple has to re-engineer the entire phone, including both software and hardware, to make it work. Whereas sticking with Face ID, most of the software is already written and the entire hardware engineering is already done. All they have to do is to buy the camera modules. It’s for this reason that Tim Cook says that he’s never seen a cost estimate that was remotely close. People only look at the parts and forget everything else that went into making the feature work.

I just got my iPhone 10s and my last phone was the iPhone 7. I’ve used my 10s for about 2 days now and I feel like Face ID is much faster and better. I use to love Touch ID but I think Face ID is the way to go

I Lov FaceID because it is really handy for my wetty hand, easy to authenticate to use Apple Pay, reliable internet baking payments
But for China, it doesn’t matter if Apple introduce their 4 years R&D new TouchID for their pacific country to boost Apple’s market share at China

What if the rumors of the se2 and this chinese focused iphone are the same phone?

As opposed to just selling the 8 at a lower cost, apple would just release a new spec bumped iphone using the same body as the iphone 8 (and 7 and 6). But rather than any underscreen fingerprint reader, its just touch id—validating the idea that a “new” iphone without face id is coming out.

In my mind, *if* this phone were to exist, this phone would be like the regular oneplus 7; a Region specific phone that is merely a spec bumped phone using the previous years body.
