DIY printer concepts by Voron or RatRig became more and more popular. These printers are a huge step forward concerning fast printing speed while remaining print quality. The Voron Zero / Voron 0.1 / V0.1 is one of the most anticipated DIY printers. Which kit should you get? I built and tested the famous LDO and Formbot Voron V0.1 kits in order to answer that question!

Great video! One note: the LDO Z lead screw is actually PTFE coated, not black oxide like the fasteners 🙂

I had one of the earlier formbot kits (July 2022). Good to see they've upgraded a lot of the componenets (e.g. Stainless fastners) so it's now a perectly functional kit, but tbh that's why you go with LDO as it will work out of the box instead of being iterated and customers getting a mystery box.

Great video, can't wait for part 2. I picked up a formbot kit last year (before they included the prebuilt wiring) and it has been running like a champ. I have even used it to print the parts out for my new Voron Trident build that I finished this week.
I did have to change my extruder motor on my V0 from the moons to LDO motors because the moons one died on me. I also have some spare A/B LDO motors ready to replace as soon as the Oukeda motors die. But overall it has been a fantastic build, and I'm happy to have a hybrid Formbot/LDO printer.

This is probably the most well produced 3d printing video I've ever seen. I clicked the bell, which isn't something I ever do. Now I just wish I had seen this before I ordered my formbot kit!

Great video, I really enjoyed watching this and the side by side comparison is really great.
I've ordered the formbot kit because I love to tinker and as a mechanical engineer, electronics/wiring is my weakest point and this is a great way to learn it.

I would definitely choose the LDO kit. I've purchased 2 other LDO kits, a Prusa kit, and done self sourcing for a custom printer. If I'm going to buy a kit, I don't want to have to source more pieces just to complete the build.
