5 New Chrome OS 98 Features You Should Try Right Now

Chrome OS 98 is out and available for most devices at this point, so it's time to dig in and see what new features are hiding both behind flags and in plain sight. Michael did a great job highlighting the main new features of Chrome OS 98 in a post earlier this week, but just like we see with each iteration of the operating system, there are some really handy features that are basically ready to go if you simply turn on a few flags.

As we always point out, some of the stuff we'll discuss today is still in development and may or may not work for you as a daily addition. If any of these flags cause you trouble, just turn them off for now. However, there are a few of them that are far enough along in the development cycle to deem worth a look. They could really enhance your Chromebook experience, so let's get into it.

These OS release updates are very helpful. I am running version 98.0.4758.91 on my PixelBook and for some reason, none of the desktop flags seem to work. For example, Desk Templates doesn't seem active and any wallpaper added to a desk applies to all, even though the flak is set to allow unique wallpaper per desk.

I wish we'd be able to run Linux apps natively on Chrome OS, not in a container like it's at the moment. We should also have full access to the Linux terminal instead of the current limited Chrosh features.
If there are no advanced features to have full control of my computer then I would just use my mobile instead. I would expect advanced features on my computer, which why Chrome OS will not be my daily drive, at least at the moment. web-browser based applications are cool, but having the option to also run native applications would be great! Being able to install Flatpak application would also be great.

It’s really nice that you are using this new all in one desktop it looks way more refined for videos and presentation itself
Hopefully chrome os gets more refined and implements more elements as the material ui
Also would love google to have more consistency with the UI and round windows notification all the presentation of the ui itself
