Biggest Landing Net Mistakes & How to Do it Right. I have recently seen a few beginners make mistakes with their Landing Net when landing a fish. We have probably all made the same mistakes when we start out fishing, but hopefully, this video will point out the more obvious mistakes , which could lead to the loss of some very big fish.

I will also show the viewers how to do it properly, so, in future, you can land that huge fish and not kick yourself for losing it.

Thanks Den. Probably made all those mistakes today as I broke my left wrist some time ago and it has no power whatsoever now. Thankfully I fish with a friend so if I am fortunate enough to catch a fish its a two man job.

Great advice. If mixed fishing I tend to use 2 nets, the smaller one for up to 4lbs with a 4m handle. The other larger one will easily fit 15lb carp on a 3m handle. Its amazing how many people dont use a mat for larger fish !!

Bought my first net as I realized I can't land fish with grace using my 4m telescopic float rod. Wanted something "not too big" and manager to get a net that still is to short for fishing alone, which I do.

Update to the Paste Baits, ventured onto the large estate lake yesterday, the water in the lake is down, mainly because of little rain and plus the farmer that now owns it uses the water for his crops !. So I found myself down the margin, a foot from the bank in around 15 inches deep. small float no shot with a big blob of Tumeric paste ( this has shot to the top of my bait list Den) a little while before the fish found it, but with the paste now it stays glued to the hook for ages. Anyway lulled into a waiting game, and there is no warning with carp, fortunately I hold my rod while in the rest, instantly I am holding on for dear life but successfully landed a beautiful Mirror Carp. It was probably one of the biggest Carp in the lake " 14lbs 6ozs, not big as far as Carp go but for this lake a really good catch, I went on to have 4 more of similar size, and probably lost the same amount. I wish I could send you pic but I don't think I can on u-tube, superb session. B

Landing nets are my first job on the bank now but in my younger days it was the one thing I forgot so many times. Some venues I even set up 2 nets I have large and a standard net which is a nightmare getting a decent fish in as it overhangs the net.
