There is no argument that the G2 Guillotine is an awesome tool. And I assure you that one day I will either buy or build one. But today I needed to do some tenons and the anvil just wasn't cutting it. In about 30 minutes and for just a few dollars I made this awesome "Poor Man's Guillotine"

If necessity is the Mother of invention then the intelligence to find what you need in what you have is certainly the Father. Inspirational as always Chandler

WOW! You give me hope! I don't have much money but I got a lot of metal and a welder!!!  Am makin' hardie tools for my new (to me) 1899 Trenton; this will be one of them!!!  :)

Excellent use of scrap steel to make something useful. In my shop my welder has saved my ass and many $$$ on projects where I had to figure how to do it. My recipe...sit down and stare at your work piece thinking about how to achieve your purpose. Look around see what you have laying about, then make it. 2 fingers of good bourbon help homogenize this process. Good work!

Chandler, you have many admirers of your work, and rightly so. I appreciate how you let the negative bull shiite from the occasional naysayer, critic or momma's boy roll right off into the fires of the old furnace. Chive on my friend.

and a cheap spring added under the head of the spike would keep it up till you hit it and then raise it for the next strike so you don't have to have 3 hands

Another great no nonsense video, I really enjoy your "give it shot" attitude. I'm inspired to give it a try but rail road spikes are hard to come by over in England. Might have to source some scrap metal from another place.

I think you should find a way to maybe add a spring to the railroad spike. So you don't have to pull the spike up every time you want to strike..
