And Bruckner was worried God would greet him with "Well, my boy, you didn't do near enough with the talent I gave you."

Electrifying and polished performance with plenty of nuance! My choir is performing this at the end of next month...can't wait :)

what a extraordinary performance! Electrifying. The very best. He makes this piece what Bruckner wanted it to be: his passport to heaven! To the greater glory of God!

I like this performance more than any other I have heard so far. Thank you for the opportunity and the pleasure. (And no, I don't think it's too fast. :)

If you are familiar with Bruckner the tempo here takes a bit of getting used to, but the performance is so strong overall that it becomes irresistible. Now my favourite version.

Darf ich noch einige Wünsche äußern: Holst The Planets, Schumann 2, Mendelssohn 5, Beethoven Missa solemnis, alle mit Gardiner beim SHMF. Ist ja bald Weihnachten ! Vielen Dank für die bisherigen Veröffentlichungen. PS: Beethoven Violinkonzert und Brahms 1 mit Tennstedt/Kennedy.

I love this tempo, which shows another facet of Bruckner's works. Just my opinion, I don't see the point of dragging to a broader tempo just because of "Bruckner".

Gosh, so light and frothy - I had no idea Bruckner, let alone this devout prayer to God, could be made to sound like this. Just look at Sir John's affable smile as he switches from 4 to 2 (at 0:20) after just a few bars of the 1st movement ("Allegro moderato 4/4") - he sure knows how to get it over with quickly...
Bruckner Lite, yeah!

I watch this version from time to time.
Also, I respect the belief of viewers who don't like fast tempo.
However, my personal point of view is that the tempo of Bruckner's te deum should be
somewhat faster like this video.
I think this should end with a grand and powerful ending,
like Mahler's Symphony No.8 .
I think the meaning of
("Non Confundar in Aeternum")
="A chorus of intense and earnest faith"... fades when the tempo slows down.
So, I think Bruckner's te dem should be tempo like this version.

I guess I’m extremely used to the Karajan recording I have, and the tempo my choir is taking for our concert on May 1st, but this is VERY fast for Te Deum, I feel. The entire piece is being performed so fast. You blink and you miss the intricacies of each movement. It’s lovely but I feel a lot of the point of the piece was missed at this tempo.

Wow Good~! Best Version Ever..! Because of this version, Karajan now has to go to the museum...

I love the tempo!
Biggest problem with Bruckner is generally performed to slow...got to keep the forward movement 👍
