LSU Kim Mulkey LOSS to Alabama postgame

LSU head women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey spoke with the media following her Tigers overtime road loss to Alabama, 88-85.

I'm an LSU fan, but I'm not gonna overreact to this loss. Instead of being critical of LSU, try giving credit to Alabama. They played a good game, especially on the perimeter. Sure, Flau'Jae had a rough night, Morrow didn't get a double-double, and Mikaylah missed some big shots down stretch. It happens. It's not the end of the season and it's definitely not the end of the world. Teams are gonna have a bad game from time to time. LSU still battled to nearly two overtimes on the road. It's not easy beating a good team with hyped fans on the road. It's also that time of year where underdogs are fighting to get in the tournament. NC State got Notre. Kentucky got Tennessee tonight; and damn near got LSU last weekend. Miss St. gave Texas a run for their money. LSU's got Senior day on Sunday with a tough Ole Miss team coming to town. I'm expecting the energy level to be at a high peak and LSU should bounce back. But there are no easy games going forward. So, instead of bad-mouthing these young student-athletes for coming up short, I tip my hat to Alabama. They had a good game-plan to neutralize the Big Three, and they did. And unlike Kentucky, Alabama closed the deal.
Such is life. LSU will be ok. This year's tournament is gonna be wide open. But for now, just focus on Ole Miss.

Why does the NCAA keep turning a blind eye to the officiating? Its blatantly bad in all the conferences. LSU cannot continue to struggle opening up games. You weren't prepared period.

Kim Mulkey has a lot of respect for Kristy Curry and vice versa. 2 longtime friends battling it out! As a Bama fan, I have always admired Kim Mulkey. I'm also ecstatic about how Coach Curry took Bama from the bottom cellar of the SEC to 3 straight NCAA tournaments. Roll Tide! Good game Tigers fans!

I still feel kim not playing her best talent when she needs to... she's still favoring certain players even when they are having a bad game..she wants to go with small lineup but complains their getting out rebounded...hope she gets it together soon...it's go time💯💯

This entire team needs to shoot free throws the entire practice. This, cost us this game. 4 never missed last 2 years, this year, misses every other one she shot. 12 used to be our go to girl, now she missed half of hers. Unacceptable in my opinion. Come on girls, you’re better than this.

Big 4 i love you but if you want to help the younger teammates to win a natty you gotta lock in and play better defense. MK keep your head up, work on free throws & when the double team hits pass to a post. Jada Richard just hold on baby, your time is coming!

each game has looked a little worse than the last. i hope we can avenge these losses in the sec tourney. we actually have a chance to play alabama, sc, and texas again!

A common theme with Mulkey press conferences is that she will never take accountability for anything she does. Instead she'll blame the players mixing up the plays and will call them out by name. Then she'll move onto a backhanded compliment about the opponent. "yeah Alabama is Ok but they didn't have anything to do with us losing. They have old wise players too" THEN she'll try and slyly complain about the officiating. Totally threw Van Lith under the bus because SHE didn't adjust the lineups. I still don't understand why women want to come and play for her. 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️

MK did her best, she just needs some coaches to teach her how to shoot while under pressure, shoot with little space created etc and she will make a good run in the SEC. The greater issue is the whole team missing FTs and also not flowing as a team barely passing and when they do pass it's so poor they make turnovers etc but LSU depending on individuals making plays isolated is gonna be js risky during the championship tournament.
