Why is there such a focus on dreams and visions in the NAR?

Your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. There is an increased focused on supernatural experiences within the New Apostolic Reformation, such as dreams and visions. Many will claim such experiences and may even view these as indicators of a deep fellowship with God.

Join me as we look at some examples within this movement, Joel 2:28, and a view of such experiences in light of Scripture.

The Lord helped me to overcome anxiety from listening to too many voices out there on the internet..I was so overwhelmed until I culled so many channels, so many groups etc..I literally scaled everything down to just the Holy Bible and then added very few channels back..and glad I found yours during this time.

Thank you for doing what you do. My husband and I left a word of faith. I am still struggling as I don't know any strong women with biblically sound doctrine. I have so many questions and just want another women to talk with as well but most of the women I know are still trapped and we don't see eye to eye; as they want to talk about prophecy readings and other things. That movement almost made me have a nervous breakdown and ruin my mental stability. I couldn't understand why everyone seem to have God on speed dial and me i got nothing, they make it sound like its instant and life changing in the blink of a eye. I was literally on my side curled up in a ball crying asking God why he doesn't love me like those people.. i almost walked away ftom God because if their lies .. i really thought i wasn't loved, or wasn't faithful enough, they almost damned my spirit

I was in the charismatic movement, it wasn't the NAR, but going to people for confirmation, I used to see that all the time, I used to do that. I'm glad I left the prophetic movement!!

wow! i was literally just praying yesterday & asking the Lord if i should throw out my books about dream interpretation (i was in the mystic, charismatic church for a decade & left in Jan. 2021). & i had a pretty demonic dream last night.. i used to get my dreams interpreted weekly, often using the Hebrew alphabet symbols & number chart as well as biblical symbolism i was taught. i was definitely told that because i dream every night, it was a "sign" i was growing closer to the Lord. the group i was a part of believed we were part of the 144, 000 - so of course i was always seeing this number throughout the day & in my dreams & was then told this was the Lord confirming all of it. this was so incredibly timely. thank you! 🖤

I've had dreams and visions since I was 17. Had no one to talk to about it. I never asked for these but Jesus healed me in a number of instances in my dreams and visions. And the healing was real when I woke up.

That is an outstanding question! It seems the focus in the NAR is so much on the “miraculous” it comes at the expense of sound biblical exegesis. When a person questions them about that, any person, cessationist or not, they accuse you of all sorts of neglect of the Holy Spirit.
This is why I for one see them as 2 Tim 3:1-6 and willing to ignore the sufficiency of scripture 2 Tim 3:16-17. I don’t see a true Christian seeking the signs and wonders like they do at the expense of seeking to know and love Christ and his word. The real Holy Spirit points to Christ not “stuff.”

I've had demonic nightmares for most of my life. I also had crystal clear "prophetic" dreams. That's what I was told they were, anyway. I gave power to them. When the dam broke and the scales dropped from my eyes, my demonic nightmares stopped. I still have vivid dreams, but I take meds for severe BiPolar1 disorder. Vivid dreams can be a side effect. My sister was once going through a major health crisis with her husband. He needed a liver and was on life support. She was getting tested to be a live liver donor for him (they take part of the liver and the other part grows back). She was beyond tired and stressed. One day she went to the store to get some groceries and a women she doesn't even know came up to her and told her that first she needed to tell her this story FROM THE BIBLE so that my sister will know this is a word from God. The women then told her the story from the Bible and it was a story that my sister had on her heart over and over for days before that. So my sister said she knew to listen at that point. The women then went on and said that my sister needed to stop worrying because she will be a match. She was not seeking a vision or prophecy. My sister never met this lady before and never saw her again. She was scouring the word of God for comfort not seeking dreams or prophets. She ended up telling the doctors this and they literally laughed at her. They were not believers but they became believers when her test results came back a perfect match. Seeing as her husband was a lot taller than her her liver had to be larger than normal for her body to be a match. It also had to be a blood match among other things. This is not something usually quickly found in someone not blood related to someone. The odds that she would be a match was quite literally laughable for the human to comprehend. Because of this one incident I can not put it past God comforting people through prophecy and dreams but IT'S NOT NORMAL. It rarely happens. I certianly don't believe it happens on a large audience scale or over nations today.
