Demographics, Trends, and Assessment of the LGBTQ+ Population

Historically, younger patients have more difficulty remaining in treatment than older patients. This population, which is particularly vulnerable to substance use and mental health issues, needs coordinated support to help them navigate potentially stressful changes in education, work, and relationships, especially when dealing with co-occurring disorders.

Our research into the effects of treatment on young adults suggests that it is an essential component of positive outcomes in later life.
