I wish I could have had this done earlier. At 45 I had to have an ACDF from C4-C7 and a C5 corpectomy. At my one month post-op appt, x-rays showed hardware failure. I had to go back in for more surgery with 2 different procedures. First, my surgeon fixed the failed hardware and then had to go up a level and fused my spine from C3-C7. Then they flipped me over and I had a posterior fusion with instrumentation from C3-T2. 5 years later and I'm in severe pain and unable to walk without aides (either a cane for shorter distance or my walker).

I had been seeing a chiropractor for years for upper cervical pain. At one point I started experiencing weakness in my legs and severe lower back pain. It was determined that I have very hypermoble joints and that adjustments made the condition worse. I always suggest chiropractic care for people but after attempting what was considered “ gentle” approaches — no cracking I figure it’s best to discontinue. Please share your thoughts which I know can’t be specific to my situation but about hypermobility/ chiropractic adjustments in general.

I had a decompression done thinking I’ll be better, but It just made matters worse. It’s hard for me to walk short distances without my devices.
