Did you know in the movie Short Circuit

Did you know that in the movie, Short Circuit, $1.4 million dollars of the films $15 million dollar budget was spent on creating Number 5? Despite the price tag and the fact he was suppose too be a futuristic robot, Johnny 5 wasn’t able to perform many of the tricks that appeared in the movie. Many of those tricks done by Johnny 5 were done using pretty simple methods. For instance, when Johnny 5 is reading a book and the pages would flip quickly, this was accomplished using an air hose off screen. Another example is when Johnny 5 picks up the washer and starts to flip it like a coin was accomplished by using a piece of string at both ends.

Well yeah, everyone can pretty much assume they didn’t build a fucking robot in the 80’s with the coordination necessary to flip and coin and turbo scroll through a book. Modern robots with hundreds of millions of dollars in R&D are just starting to master walking on two legs on any surface that isn’t completely flat and free of obstacles.
