One day in class, I heard my two teachers talking about food and one of them asked, "What is good to put on every dish?"
And since I overhead, I recommended them to put in cilantro because I always see people put cilantro in their food. I also told them "I personally don't like cilantro but I see people but it on their food."
And then my teacher asks me
"But aren't you Mexican? Don't you guys like Cilantro?" I told her no. I told her that I'm Hispanic who so happens to have a mother that's Latino and NOT from Mexico.
And I felt a bit offended because first of all
YOu don't have to be Mexican to like cilantro.
Second of all, if I were Mexican and I didn't like cilantro. Does that mean I'm not considered Mexican.
Third of all not everyone is from Mexico.

Oh and one thing. I am not Mexican because I'm not born in Mexico.I'm born in Canada.

My teacher is a nice teacher for real but that shows that non Latinos all think the stereotype that we're all Mexicans."
