I was able to follow well until you got to the point of editing the ui_info file. When I logged in, using WinSCP, all I could access were the folders that I have shared with the NAS. I could not get to all the background files you showed, even though I turned on the hidden files option. I could find the file on my C: (local) drive, but editing that with my NAS IP address did not work. When I run CrashPlan, it never gets to the log in page.

thank you for making this tutorial!! Question, I already have a workstation that has been backing up through crash plan. If i want to backup files from both NAS and from my local workstation, what different steps will I need to do (besides skipping the local workstation's service stop)?

Hi. Instructions worked great but when I rebooted my PC where the Crashplan client is installed the settings seem to be lost. Any ideas??

I'm running a Synology NAS on a Mac network. Any chance of providing instructions on how to reconfigure the crash plan client on a Mac, in order to point it to another machine?

I would agree with Jai, could you please update the video for the new crashplan version. I am trying the "dedicated java version" and i am still getting an error.

I got all the way through the video but when I tried to copy the .ui_info file back over it said permission denied.

Any suggestions?

Thank you! I already have crashplan running and backing up all my content to my drobo connected to my pic via usb3.
I want to link the crashplan to my synology nas to send the same backup to the nas and my wired/linked drobo (Backing-up to both sites at the same time).
Could I backup to both the wired drobo and the nas this way?

I find I have one problem when trying to edit the syno_packages.vars file. I get "permission denied". I tried saving the file then uploading it, but I get the same error.
Got any ideas?

So I restarted my computer and Crashplan lost its link to my NAS. Crashplan isn't recognizing it as a mapped drive any longer. Any suggestions? I noticed teh UIpropoerties files is missing as well. I'm going to uninstall it and reinstall it.

I have been running Crashplan for years now, following a guide similar to this.

But it seems it doesn't work anymore, due to a new Crashplan update or something. I get this in the log on Crashplan on my Synology
"Synology repairing upgrade in"

Anyone else having problems with Crashplan hanging when it starts up? I can't get it to work at all now.
