Project Invacar part 18: Curing Carb Issues

Can I actually get TWC running nicely? That's the focus of this episode of Project Invacar, sponsored by Hagerty Classic Car Insurance UK.

I remove and clean the Weber 32ICS 3 carburettor, discovering a jet I completely missed on the previous attempt! Question is, will it actually make a difference?

This also sees my continued testing of Grippaz gloves. I'm still on the first pair!

I've never commented on a YouTube video in my life. I'm decloaking to say that that was the singularly most gripping piece of motoring that I've ever witnessed. That thing was absolutely humming along, it's so nice when you get to the root of a running problem isn't it, makes all the faff of these old cars worth it, it's fascinating that they're so rapid isn't it? I'll look out for it at the Festival of the Unexceptional, which I am hoping to attend in my Saab 99GL 5 speed!

Your area of Wales looks ruggedly beautiful -- it's very similar to rural areas in New Zealand (where I live). The region in which I reside is quite hilly; heck, even my city has numerous hills, which I hate because I have to cycle. Twc would either give them her best shot, or possibly explode with the effort.

Great to see Ystumteun on the Invacar vid. Took a Vespa 150 up that hill many years ago! Richard Burton and Liz Taylor had a place they used to stay up near there. Long before my time there.

And toldja the carb needed a cleaning, it should always be the prime suspect for any engine restoration, even i it looks okay, they're always left full of crap when left to stand for years... :)

many years ago my sisters father in law had one of those Invacars and he loved it so much that he did not want to give it up when they stopped issuing them and gave people standard cars with hand control conversions having said that I never dreamed that it was possible to do 60mph in one.

Impressed, didn't have any bits left over. Good job for a first time carb rebuild. I'm seriously impressed by Mrs HN's Kirigami (gasket making) skills. You can clean up a carb, in the absence of an ultrasonic cleaner) in a heated pot of water with a little baking soda and a tooth brush, just don't leave it too long or let the Mrs catch you using her best casserole pot.
