Thanks to everyone who's been leaving comments and requests for more Band-Maid songs! This has been the most positive reception I've ever gotten for a video! I'm glad the "Maidiacs" are so welcoming and kind!

Nice reaction. You stated: "I'm so confused right now". Their goal is what you see is not what you get. The Maids surround Akane (the worlds happiest drummer) on the drums to mess with her but she NEVER misses a beat. There's plenty more where that came from. For Akane's longest drum solo on video checkout FREEDOM-LIVE. Also checkout these 3: FROM NOW ON (instrumental), HATE-LIVE and DON'T YOU TELL ME-LIVE. Peace. 6.38

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.

Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

You were confused within tens of seconds, realized in one minute that they were not normal, and felt amazing in two minutes, it was amazing.
You don't have to believe me, but they are the best hard rock band in the world right now.
You now have a chance to see a historic band.
Please continue.
Please listen to not only the drummer AKANE but also all the members.
Also, their studio songs are great, but they really shine when they perform live.

Great react! Akane is my favorite drummer and was even the inspiration for me to get off my butt and finally buy a kit and start learning properly. In 2016 Jimmy Page just happened to see a Band-Maid concert and insisted on going backstage and meeting the drummer. He told her she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. Check out Freedom (live) next for sure. Also the confusion is normal and Miku, the band founder who had the idea while working in a maid cafe, calls it "the gap". Your brain is supposed to not let these two things mix but they do.

What you hear at the beginning is the ending of their song Play. The Ladies finished Play (Of which there is an official live video from this same concert on their channel) then walked back to the pedal boards to reset for Domination. Total time between the 2 songs 6 seconds. That is how tight these Ladies are. They only needed 6 seconds to set up, not just their pedal boards, but to stay in time with their backing track.

How the Ladies normally perform live is that they will get counted in by Akane, the drummer, then launch into 3-6 songs depending on how they have set their setlist. But after they play that first section, they will take a brief pause, interact with the audience (MC time) while the next set of 3-6 songs is setup. Including the click and the backing track. After the next set of songs, they will once again have a brief MC time while they wash-rinse-repeat. As their show progresses, they will include a longer MC time after the halfway point, to allow the Ladies to get offstage, to refresh themselves, while Miku the band founder/rhythm guitarist and second lead vocalist will have what is called Omajinai Time, where she interreacts with the audience using call and response, then as the other instrumentalists come back out, they will perform 1-2 songs with Miku on Lead vocals plus 1-2 instrumental songs. Then Saiki the Main lead vocalist comes out and they kick off the next 3-6 songs, wash-rinse-repeat.

The Ladies concerts called Okyuji's or servings, will have a setlist of anywhere from 18-25 songs normally. It depends on the Main Lead vocalist, Saiki's, voice, and how strong she is. They almost never perform encores, but they have done a few in the past when Saiki felt her voice was up to it.

Last November as the tour finale of their 10 year anniversary tour, they performed 33 songs in an over 3.5 hour performance that was also streamed live world wide. I stayed up until 5 am to watch it myself and I loved every moment of it.

I'll leave this first part of an information file about the Ladies here, then add more context after.

Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band)

Name/Age: Nickname: Position:

Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist,

Now for more context. Band-Maid is probably one of, if not THE Best Live bands currently touring. From their sound to their full performance, they LIVE for their live performances. The smiles on their faces are real, and they enjoy performing for their "Masters and Princesses" as they call their fans.

And many other drummers have problems trying to copy Akane's drum patterns. Especially her double pedal patterns.

And this live version is just ONE of the Alternate Versions of Domination. There are 2 other versions, the original without the extended breakdown/bridge section, and the one also without the extended section but an extended guitar intro. These Ladies CONSTANTLY rework their songs for live performances, to give their fans a better performance. And Domination isn't the only song with an alternate version. Play, the song which preceded Domination at this concert has 3 alternates, Freedom has 2 alternates, Anemone has 4 alternates including an acoustic, Puzzle has 2 alternates including an acoustic, and the list goes on.

Including all the alternate versions, the Ladies have a discography of almost 200 songs. Not including alternate versions, their discography is still over 130+ songs. So don't be surprised if you get a request for a song you may have already reacted to, but the request is a specific alternate version you HAVEN'T reacted to. Then be prepared to get your mind blown.

Great reaction. Welcome to Band-Maid and their awesome music. Your initial impression is an almost universal one where there is first confusion followed by the customary wow factor. The Maids call this the "Gap" reaction where what you see is not what you get, it is intentional, and they always find this humorous in a good way. All the members are elite musicians as you can see and have all been together for 10 years recording over 120 great original songs. They have had their music in several Anime productions and were invited to have a cameo appearance in the Netflix movie "Kate." Band-Maid is exceptionally dynamic live, and they have toured the US, Mexico, Europe and the Far East to sold out shows. Their drummer, Akane Hirose, is a powerhouse whose nickname is "gorilla" for her hard-hitting yet intricate drumming skills. Fun fact, she loves eating bananas for an energy boost during their shows.

5:35 - It's called "Hengao" ("Funny face" in Japanese). They're trying to get the drummer, Akane ("Ah-Kah-Nay"), to mess up but she's just too good. If you want to see Akane kick moar ass, check out Freedom (2020 live) as well as these others:

I loved you saying, "I'm so confused!" Welcome to "The Gap, " which is the band founder's concept that is intended to create exactly that response in question. I'm glad you like them. Great reaction!

Rock on!

In my seventies and I am absolutely smitten with this band. They are so good. Definitely check out their performance of "Hate?" from the Yokohama Arena that was posted just a few days ago, "Freedom" has a great drum solo, but it is on the video from covid times, made as a gift to their fans, On it are two incredible songs on one video - "Manners" and "Black Hole." Great reaction, not just because you liked the music, but because you had solid reasons and measures in place to evaluate what you heard. So many others don't and just go "yeah I liked it" or "It's Ok" with no real reasons for it. Some even judge them because of the maid thing. There is a reason for the maid outfits, but it is a bit complicated to get into in this space. Anyway, I loved your reaction and thank you for taking the time to listen with us.

You can see the exact moment he fell in love.

Also in one of the other concert vids some described Akane, the drummer, as "an absolute dynamo".

Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. These ladies are gloriously happy, insanely talented, and incredibly tight knit both on and off stage. They are arguably one of the best rock groups around today. Check out their latest video drop, Hate? at Yokohama Arena (official live video). And if you want to see an extended drum solo, Freedom (official live video) is a must. Their catalogue of songs run deep and wide. They typically blend several genres into a song, and will certainly please the most discriminating ears. Looking forward to more Band-Maid reactions in the near future. Cheers!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. Best overall band I've heard in decades. That noodling at the start is actually the last cord ringing out of the previous song "Play" at this concert. It's also a killer live video and definitely worth checking out. I think you are going to really like this band. Akane's creative and tasteful use of double kicks is always such a treat. Enjoy the ride. I know I have.

The maidiacs welcome you onboard!
There's a drum cam video of Akane on the song Warning (I believe)

Speaking of guitar/bass solo, they have an epic battle in one of their latest MVs from Yokohama Live

When they all gather around the drummer they're making faces at her trying to get her to make a mistake during her fastest part of the song... never works.

You need to watch Freedom. I'm sure other people will spoil it for you, but TRUST ME, you need to watch their Freedom Official Live.
