GTA 5 360 INSTALL ISSUES (Escapist News Now)

Outlet Digital Foundrey discovered that installing both discs to your 360 hard drive will cause playback errors. Seen in this video, installing both the content disc and the play disc will slow down access times, impacting streaming performance resulting in texture popping.

Rockstar has made an official recommendation to not install the play disc, but only the content disc as it is a mandatory install that will cost you about 7.7GB of space. Besides, not installing the play disc will save you close to an additional 8 gigs of space, and will provide optimal performance.

no that would be the install disc, Rockstar advises you don't use the play disc to install (as that causes problem). Watch the video you're on, it explains it better

A lot of PS3 games do background installs. I was checking my memory and saw a lot of my PS3 games take from 2 gb to 4 gb of space. Red Dead, Batman AC, BF3, Deus Ex. Check the back of some of the boxes. It tells you how much memory is required. Injustice takes 4gb for example.
I'm guessing it speeds up load times, but it eats up memory.

The game is out in Australia and I can say that there are pop in issues all over when you're driving fast. textures, signs and trees seem to suffer the most as well as cars falling through the ground and warping. It isn't going to ruin my enjoyment but damn. Also that's on the PS3 version.

So you installed the play disc to the hard drive and are experiencing no streaming issues? To be 100% sure, could you replay the first mission "Franklin and Lamar" and watch the cutscene they are demoing in this clip. If there are no issues then I will take your word for it and install both discs when I get my copy tomorrow. I always install discs as it decreases load times and the noise my 360 makes. The only other game I remember having install issues was Halo 3, which was fixed via a patch.

The thing is most people, like myself, don't have any idea how to build our own gaming PC nor do we want to go through all the trouble of getting the parts to do so. That's where consoles come in. There for people who just want to play the game without worrying about every part.

same problem here. I've contacted xbox support chat, on twitter and youtube as well as rockstar support for this. I tried everything including reinstalling game, system update and even putting it on a separate 16gb flsh... Dont know what to do. Best bet is to just not install the 2nd disc from the start :(

You never need an internet connection to install discs for any other games so I cant imagine thats going to change.

It also wasn't Sony's fault that Hackers leaked Information (I also think that they moved back the pre-download becuase of Rockstar). Neither version is perfect.

It's a myth that a decent gaming computer has to cost a lot. Consoles, upon release, are usually set around £300. You could build a perfectly usable computer, very easily might I add, for that price, and get so much more out of it than you ever could a console.

Installing the mandatory disk and then trying to play on the "play" disk and i cant even do the first mission with out the game breaking and resetting itself, really pissing me off !

I have a 1st generation Xbox 360 and i bought a 120gb hardrive with also the purchase of GtaV. I enjoyed it until yesterday when i got the annoying alert. I already finished the story mode just doing some strangers and freaks missions. Please Rockstar fix this!

The beauty of the PC is that you don't need a super expensive PC. I can build you a gaming PC that's more powerful than the Xbox one or PS4 for cheaper than either of those.

Not only that, but you can replace individual parts of your PC very easily. You don't have to spend $1000 in one chunk. You can upgrade the video card. Then a few years later you can get more ram, a bigger faster hard drive (or even an ssd), you can upgrade the power supply.

It pains me. I usually buy multi-platform games for 360 because of GTA online. Xbox Live is superior, PSN is lacking. Sadly this is not only effecting older models. This has affected me and i'm using a slim model I bought when the slim was new. I bought GTAV on the friday the week GTAV came out. Ever since the latest patch I play for 5-10 minutes then it tells me I have a problem with storage device. Now i'm not even sure if I should get a new copy or not. This really needs to be fixed.

As a high end PC owner I expierienced countless of times I had trouble installing a game because a file was misplaced..or I needed to download something ect

that shit just happened to me, and sometimes ill just be driving around and the gps wont show roads and wen i pause the game it dosent load the map. and i cant take the phone out change radio stations or nothing but i can still play drive around and stuff its fuckin pissin me off.
