Dr Walton I was a student of yours at Moody from 1994-1999. Listening to these videos is like being back in class again. Blessings

Thank you Dr. John Walton - our C.G. Jung reading group in South Africa is tacking Job again - we studied it many years ago in our group and are re-studying it. Someone in a Jung FB group pointed me to your lectures which I have passed on to others in our group. We have only just begun - and I for one am enormously grateful for your elucidation. I'm only on your 2nd lecture. We're using the Bible Job, thereafter we will see what Jung has to say in his 'Answer to Job' and no doubt your lectures in-between. Thank you again ...

It has to be said that the beauty of the prose in Job could not be done using Cuniform or Hieroglyphics.
Therefore, it could only be recorded in written form by phonetic script.
I agree with Dr. Watson that it would be originally oral.
And it seems to have cultural clues from the period and places which Abraham lived. So, the oration could have been created from that time and place.

From my study of early Sinaitic phonetic script in Egypt I think it was originally written in Egypt by those who first produced the script.
Personally, I think it was done by Jacob and Joseph.
