There have been incredible scenes out of New Zealand's parliament after a reading on a controversial Maori rights bill had to be suspended following a protest during the vote.

This is exactly how my wife and kids react when I show them the electricity bill and ask them to please turn off the lights and the heater when they are not using their rooms.

Maori people should fight for what’s rightfully theirs. Keyboard warriors can keep typing away from the toilet seat but Māori people are in the parliament and their protest is being aired on every news network in the world! Keep fighting !

What has the Palestinian flag got to do with NZ and the Māori treaty

The history of the world is about conquest. The Maori are descended from conquerors and were, like so many other conquerers, conquered themselves. In another 200 years, NZ might be conquered by China if the current trends continue.

If they actually read the bill they would see that nothing in the bill is against Maori. It is FOR everyone in New Zealand.

The Treaty Principles Bill they are talking about says 1) the Crown has the right to govern, 2) New Zealanders' rights will be protected – including those of iwi, and 3) we all have equal rights.

Why do reporters say this bill is so devisive when it isn't? How can equality for all be divisive? Activists are wrecking nz.

The "journalist "is a "anker.
The bill does not seek to reinterprate the treaty at all.

Anyone who doesn’t know how to have a decent discussion and debate does not belong in the parliament. What a shameful act by a bunch of morons. This clip shows exactly the problem we have in NZ, and the ACT party is the only one with guts to face it and fix it. Majority of NZ people actually want to have that discussion, according to a survey.

I'm a leftist from new Zealand and this was painful to watch. An utter disgrace to our democracy. Even I have to admit from an objective standpoint, David Seymour was nothing but respectful and articulate as he spoke. It was his opponents that launched personal attacks and turned the house into a circus. The bill is meant to spark debate, and it has done exactly that. It's the opposing parties that are being divisive by refusing to engage in fair democratic process.

The 3 pages of the treaty of 1840 were to be clarified...originally the treaty cited all citizens of NZ were equal under the law allowing Maori customary rights of fishing etc ... Maori activists and Maori lawyers have built up an industry reinterpreting the and rewriting the treaty for many years now .. we call them the gravy train... their greed and demands are endless . It started with people being able to call themselves Maori even when the majority of their dna is non Maori. Maori represent 11% of the population and in this percentage are non Maori people identifying as Maori. David Seymour's bill was not to change our ancient treaty in any way but to clarify it and take away the add on fiddling by politicians and Maori activists. The bill he presented honours all their customary rights and settlements made to Maori but makes it clear that the democratically elected government of the country must have right to govern without Maori interference and Parliament the right to make laws and it gives all citizens of NZ irrespective of their heritage equal rights under the law. Vast numbers of Maori want this clarification as much as non Maori do so NZ of all races support it and around 60%+ of the country supports it... but the screaming and shouting came from Te Pati Maori (a Maori activist party and a racially separatist party) the woeful Green party and tail between their legs Labour, they seek to stop it from even being read.... it all boils down to a small percentage of gravy train riders becoming irrelevant and they don't want their lifestyle to end.. Maori Elite Activists are amongst the richest people in NZ. David Seymour is a true New Zealander and himself is of Maori descent.. but he, like all New Zealanders, are sick to death of the gravy train bludgers.

What a shame. As anyone can see, it is not the bill that is divisive. There already is a great divide, and the bill is just shining light on it for everyone to see and deal with it. Burying it in the sand won’t solve anything. The bill is to clarify what the treaty actually means so New Zealand can actually progress together. To call the bill divisive is a nonsense.
