I always use the same argument for the probability of ancien
civilizations...we went from horse and donkey to space shuttle in 4
generations of humans..but modern human has been living for 180.000 to
200.000 years with the same crane and brain capacity, so that is 8.000
generations and they created nothing for all this time? They just waited
4 generations from now to start creating ?? Absurd in my humble point
of view...

I think Nikola Tesla said it best:

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

I'm from Lebanon and they do indeed teach us that it is a temple of Jupiter from roman times, although most scholars here do not think so.
And given the politicians here, i don't see any money being put into research for this anytime soon.

Ive been there in 1999, and had already seen pictures in books and magazines, but nothing prepares you for the sheer size of those stones. Its Mesmerizing.
And made question until today how its possible with the technology available at the time, how they were able to cut those massive stones in an almost perfect geometric shape.
I used to lived in a small town that is famous for their huge marble quarrys, and many times i went there to see how they extract these huge square shape block from the quarry.
And i was surprise with the extraction techniques, and they way they produce small blocks from the bigger one.
Its all mechanized, huge hydraulic saws, smaller ones, hydraulic jack hammers and any kind of Heavy machinery.
Its realy a sight to be seen.
But one thing that i nottest in Baalbek, its the fact that those massive stones are 5 times bigger that any marble Stone i used to see them cutting in that quarry. And even with all that modern technology they used to take several weeks to extract only one square block from the quarry.
I can even imagine how long, what kind of tool's and the amount of man power that was needed to extract, carve and put in place those Humongous Stone blocks.
Its a real Mystery and Mind Blowing at the same time.
A place to visit for those who love history.
ancient cultures and their buildings.
And let your mind play seing those Majestic stones, and how they did it. .???!!!

It is difficult to imagine anyone wanting to build with huge stone blocks like this so long ago when they could have used smaller blocks as it done today. I guess the answer to why they did is "Because they could"

I'm astounded every time I see the extreme antique building blocks.

It really sucks that we will never know how these things were done and what ancient civilizations truly knew. And that probably 99% of human history has been destroyed or forgotten.

I love it that the ancients left these artifacts for us to puzzle over.

I'm a crane operator and a 350 ton crane can't exactly move 350 tons, it can only lift said weight straight up and down, with the boom in the most upright position and the turret in starting position for perfect centre of gravity. If the boom were to lower and change move centre of gravity further out, the boom would snap.

Agreed. If the Romans had the tech to do this, they would have propagated it throughout the empire. The epicenter would have been in Rome and then spread to other areas, not the other way around. These sites clearly predated the Romans and were skillfully incorporated into their building designs by the architects of the day.

Bah, I can show you how they moved these stones..

I work offshore. When we install new rigs, we use Tialf Crane. It lifts 2 x 8000 tons. But it’s the biggest in existence. The sheer size of this crane is astounding. If you would put it next to a place like the Temple in Baalbek, it would be the same size or bigger than the temple itself

It’s amazing to think that there were people there watching this massive structure be built & we have no concrete concept 10, 000 years later. 😲🤩

The Romans had a habit of building upon the remnants of earlier structures, this architecture matches nothing else in the Roman empire, they built the temple on top of something much older.

Just look how the structural method changes right above the trilithons, we see the same thing in many places, Puma Punku, Egypt. Macchu Pichu, etc, where newer construction with a different style was built on top of these megaliths.
