6-6 and going to a crap bowl is what Arkansas calls paying a coach $5 million a year for mediocracy.

We deserve better, anyone else wish we hadn’t fired Petrino, might have been the right thing to do, but we sure screwed up our football program.

This is a wee bit off topic here but here I go: Before this season, I thought we have GOT to be better than last year. It cannot be worse, right? Hired Petrino and a new DC, got a buncha new faces. 6-6 seemed feasible: 3 must-wins (UAPB, UAB, LA Tech) + 2 winnables (AUB, MSU) + 1 upset (OSU, TAMU, LSU?); 7-5 was optimistic (would have to include a 2nd upset) and 8-4 would have been amazing (would have involved 3 upsets.) The Hogs have a long-time tendency to lose a game they blew (or lose a game they shouldn't have lost) and win a game nobody expected. Well, we shoulda beat OSU and TAMU and we upset TN. Won 2 of the 3 must-wins (so far), both winnables and pulled off 1 upset so here we are: 5-4 and 3-3 in SEC play. OK then. Objectively speaking, that is not bad. Not GREAT, to be sure, but not bad. Better than last year. More than likely, we lose to UT and Mizzou and beat LA Tech. CAN we beat UT and/or Mizzou? Sure...maybe, but I wouldn't bet the house on either. We can also lose to LA Tech if we play like we did against Ole Miss. But assume we finish...6-6. Well, that was what I expected back in August. So why am I so frustrated and annoyed? Because Arkansas gonna Arkansas. We COULD be 7-2 and 4-2 in the SEC but blew two winnable games. And the inconsistency between games, and even within games, has just been an emotional rollercoaster--which team is gonna show up and for which half? So, on the one hand, we're about where I thought we'd be. And yet, on the other hand, I am not satisfied with this and, well, is that on me or on the team? Well, of course, it's on me--only I control how I react to the team's performances. But, man, I wish they'd stop jerking my chain with damn near every game. They've take me from "meh" (AUB, at least it was a road win; MSU, the D gave up nearly 500 yds) to "not pleased" (UAB) to "ecstatic" (TN) to "livid" (shoulda beat OSU and TAMU; didn't show up at home against LSU and Ole Miss.) I'm going to try and be more objective and calmer now: if we DO get to 6-6, well, it'll be what I expected and wasn't that, really, what most people expected as the best outcome for the season? Does this mean we retain Pittman? Well, this comment has been long enough and before I answer that one, I'm interested in what you think.

The public perception is that they clearly do not. The actual cause is a horrible overreach in Sam’s contract reworking after season two. The buyout is why he’s still here. And it came thru an AD that proclaimed utter animosity against doing that very thing as soon as he got the job.

Since joining the SEC only the Nutt/Petrino eras were serious about winning

Arkansas is never going to mediocrity will continue to be the I mean cmon vandy is far Sam is a great guy BUT NOT THE COACH FOR is idk but there are many many young offensive/defensive minds and other hc's around the country that wanna try their hand with the SEC so gtfo with the "nobody wants to coach do better piggies!!

The only thing I know for sure is I am seriously done giving a crap about the football program.

For the fans across the state it's huge, but for the organization it's just seems meh! Don't seem like a urgency for them just as long certain people get paid.

We all knew the hiring of Petrino was for him to eventually take over. If Pittman wants to coaches the line let him step down but petrino needs to be the big dawg

I wish he would stop presenting his opinion as fact…..

A team of 4 and 5 stars 99% of the time will play better with the same coach coaching them.

This is an easy one... ask yourself 1 question... what other schools would hire your coach away? the answer is none of the other SEC schools would take Pittman as a HC. You are not a serious football program.

There are 16 head coaches in the SEC. At $6.5 million annually, Pittman is in 13th place salary wise (and IMO he's still earning too much). He's (barely) ahead of Shane Breamer (SC), Jeff Lebby (MS St) and Clark Lea (Vanderbilt). All the other (12) SEC head coaches earn more than Pittman does, with Kirby Smart (GA) earning the crowning salary of 13.28 million. If Arkansas can't afford to buy out one of the lowest paid head coaches in the SEC, then maybe they have no business trying to compete in the SEC at all.

As for NIL? The Pittman SEC winning percentage supports that throwing money into a Pittman team, is like trying to make a race horse out of a mule. Even the people who have money won't see that as a good investment. Aside from that $$$ group, the average Razorback fan is a non college degree blue collar worker who's mainly interested in hunting and fishing. No problem with that, it's just that...what can they send? .... $5.00? Most will never send even that.

If the University thinks they can put the onus of escaping their mediocrity curse onto the shoulders of the average fan...through an impressive infusion of NIL $$$ ...that's probably being pretty naive. A new head coach might be their best bet for that. At least a new head coach (the right head coach) might pump up some excitement.

They can’t be very serious or they would have hired a proven head coach!!

Really want to beat Texas. All of that history really matters. And they feel the same way…beating Arkansas is serious for them.

The UA doesn't take football seriously. It's a numbers game for them. All about money.

Not serious. We need a change and I’m not sure anything will help. I don’t know if we will just never be good in football or a change will help. Arkansas football is just very disappointing every year. I’m done. Won’t watch another game this year. Too depressing. Gonna watch basketball and I hope we have something to be proud of there.

For whatever reason, Arkansas' athletic department and the billionaires in NWA don't seem invested in the football program achieving upper-tier success. Everyone makes fun of Texas A&M, but when it became clear that Jimbo was a dead end their boosters ponied up $75 million to show him the door.

I think for Yurachek it's a definite $ game. Unless the Hogs have a disastrous loss against LA Tech and miss out on bowl eligibility, there is a 90% chance that Pittman's back in 2025. Unfortunately, having a coach who's under .500 doesn't inspire confidence in quality HS recruits and transfers, so if Pittman returns and has another substandard season (or two), recruiting will suffer. When Pittman eventually is let go or retires, Yurachek and company have to understand that it'll likely take $10 million at minimum to get a head coach with a winning history. If they go the budget route again, the Hogs will likely continue to be mired in mediocrity.

Safe😳‼️Just go get the coach the fans WANT Hunter! Not what’s inexpensive and the NIL situation would be corrected tremendously!
