Putin claims the war is about countering the spreading of western cultural values and standards. For a country where all your income rests on oil and gas exports, the value he NEEDS and intends to stop is CO2 net zero and capping of emissions. He needs to keep the world burning his oil. If most of your land has an average temperature of minus 10 deg C a naive assumption would be your country will become nicer and more prosperous. However if your China with 32 Deg C summer temperatures, deserts and hit by massive annual typhoons driven by climate, rises in temperature are likely to prove very catastrophic. Be wise Mr Xi for everyone's sake.
