The Greeks were in conflict with Macedonia about the Macedonians extorting the Greek history, forced them tho change the name of their country, but now call the Bulgarians nationalists and chauvinists for protecting our own history and culture. They seem to have quite some double standards in Greece.

Ohhh no. We Bulgarians have enough internal struggles and problems. Just acknowledge tne [north] Macedonian nation is formed in the beginning of 20th century and leave us alone. From this point - good luck and we will always back the Macedonians. Even things like constitutional Bulgarian minority are unnecessary.

I am not sure i understand "the joke".. or if they are laughing out of politeness.. Bulgarians would certainly give thumbs up and since EU is on their side.. I don't see what is laughable here.. it is rather realistic.. also, part of it will go to greater Albania.. Rama is only honestly articulating near future events.. and Germany would probably even support the whole plan, the same way it pressures Serbia to recognize Kosovo..

Actually it's reverse sarcasm. Rama sent a strong message to Bulgaria by making it obvious to everyone what does their veto actually means.

Nationalism is the biggest problem & inferiority complex in the Balkans (as in the comments).
Macedonians are trying to be most multicultural (& with EU values) but hard to survive when even EU is not mature for multicultural respect (like Yugoslavia during Tito).

Take example from their respected minority:
Tom Winnifrith: (indefatigable chronicler of) "The Vlachs are the perfect Balkan citizens, able to preserve their culture without resorting to war or politics, violence or dishonesty…”

Wish there were more like them in Europe.

With illegal organ traders and drug dealers as leaders and "jokes" from the 19th century, we (whole BALKAN) will never have rich countries like those in Western Europe and the Balkans will remain powerless, underdeveloped and poor european province.
