The statement that something shouldn't be political is political.

Politics is essentially the method in which a society is run. So its absolutely political to suggest everyone deserves to live a decent life. Its also political to suggest that murder should be illegal, or that free speech should be protected. Politics is just associated with established two party Politics, which has very unfortunate consequences.

It's always:
Status Quo or POLITICAL,
Straight or POLITICAL,
White or POLITICAL,
Cis or POLITICAL,
Male or POLITICAL,
War or POLITICAL,
Capitalism or POLITICAL,
and so on...

I am very suspicious of people who claim to be "apolitical". Cosplaying neutrality is very convenient for maintaining the status quo and mainstream ideologies. I think they are just angry because you are not centrist enough, in my apolitical opinion.

Seriously though, how do you talk about philosophy and not touch on politics. That's like discussing science and ignoring physics.

Everything is build around politics. Every decision and policy which determines your tax to your legal rights are based upon hard fought political discourse. Embrace it. If we are afraid of conflict it will only benefit anti democratic movement.

The personal is political. Wanting everyone to have the chance to flourish without systemic oppression is a political stance. The problem isn't the fact that it's political. The problem is how people wield their intellectual NIMBYism like it's the American flag.

I'm getting tired of the "Everyone's gotten political" complaints coming from all the idiots I personally know were wearing those stupid red caps up until a year ago.
What they really mean is "don't make me feel stupid for my bad takes."

I want *more* political videos from you guys. Fuck Crapitalism.

The issue lies in people confusing being political with being partisan. Which imo is one of the more obvious symptoms that a country's political landscape is fucked.

Everything is political. Not trying to pick a side is as much political. You just don't want to choose out loud because you don't want to have the hassle of fighting for your principles. You want to bow out. Making it even harder to trust your commitment to others.

Thought that philosophy is political because it started politics itself

Considering that equality is literally in the Declaration of Independence, no that’s the bare minimum of being an American (despite the uphill battle for many). It says way more about the people in the comments that want you to be *more* political but most likely only *their* kind of political.

Make quality videos, push critical thinking further, fuck the naysayers.

I mean, "everyone living life flourishing" means different things for different people. Most people want that, but where it gets political is how u define it. Personally I don't think anyone can make a definitive statement as to what "flourishing" is. It's unfair to insinuate that people who complain about things getting political dont want that. Odds are their path to "everyone flourishing" or their definition of flourishing is different. And what about cases where only one party can "flourish". Deciding who gets priority is also political.

Personally I don't really care if yall are political. Even if I don't agree with stuff, I like differeing views. Just not a fan of shorts like this that essentially just poke fun at people

It's a sad state when the people can even discuss without getting emotional on the principles how humans should live.

Your life is a statement of your values. Your values become a statement of your politics. Being part of society removes you from opting out of the systems You're integrated with. Apolitical action is only to relegate yourself to the ignorance of your circumstances and to push aside your responsibilities to your circumstances. To become informed, to remain informed, and engaged; is your one true route to freedom. That being the freedom of action. And the freedom to choose and engage in your broader community. To choose no action is to inadvertently support to a degree the present momentum of circumstances. It is an incredibly difficult and exhausting experience of life. However, without that acknowledgment, you degrate yourself and the world around you closer to the direction of despair. It doesn't need to be exhausting, I don't know how to mitigate this beyond striking some balance for political/societal engagement. Definitely don't do to much, definitely don't do nothing at all, definitely recommend your primary focus be localized, and otherwise focused on your specific special interests, and being involved tangentially with peers who have disparate interests to expand your scope of grasping the complex state of the world.
