Original Video:

For the first time on the channel, we are checking out The Sweet with their tune "Ballroom Blitz." This was definitely a fun one with a great hook and a an upbeat feel! I ain't gonna lie though, the band looked wild with those outfits and that intro had me cracking up! Loved the instrumentation and the train beat on the drums kept the whole song moving forward. I can't wait to hear what else they have out there! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #thesweet #ballroomblitz #70smusic #70smusichits #musicreactions

Oh how I loved being a 70's teenager!

Hi from Scotland, this song came out in 1973.The story behind the song was the Sweet were playing in the Grand Hall Kilmarnock, North Ayrshire in Scotland, the crowd had never seen a band like this wearing make up and dressed the way they were, after 10 minutes on stage a massive fight broke out and the crowd started to throw things at the band. There is a line in the song where they say, [ The man at the back said everyone attack[, so the song Ballroom Blitz was written for what happened in The Garand Hall in Kilmarnock, , Regards from Scotland.

The hair, makeup, outfits and camping it up were just show biz.
Early 70s, few rules, everyone doing their own thing, and tons of energy. What's not to love?

I'm always amazed that I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can sing along with Ballroom Blitz, including the screams. Of course, I've been hearing it for about 50 years, so I guess I should know it by now!

This is the absolute textbook definition of "Glam". It was released in September '73.

ICONIC. Just heard my 27 year old daughter listening to it the other day and had to chuckle. What's neat as well, is that at the time we didn't have video. Just audio. I listened to these on a radio and my 45 rpms. MOST of my favorite childhood bands didn't have videos. It's neat going back and hearing these old tunes and seeing the live

The Gentleman doing the "extra" vocals is the legendary Steve Priest and excels on "Blockbuster"

Yep. Total banger from 1974. Every time I hear it I am 14 all over again and one of the reasons I am still playing bands today!!

They were criminally underrated.
I'm not the biggest The Sweet fan, but like everything I've heard from them.

In the uk they were huge! I remember them on top of the pops and my dad saying ' What bloody hell is that all about'! to say, it was on repeat along with 'wig wam bam', 'Blockbuster' and ' Teenage Rampage'

To me, The Sweet and Slade are UNTOUCHABLE when it comes to glam rock. Such fun music. Listen to Fox on the Run (The Sweet). From the first few seconds you know something epic is about to happen.
