But what about the things you don't see?

When they're not competing on the world stage in front of hundreds of cameras, the Olympic athletes stay at the Olympic Village. That's where they eat, sleep, prepare for their competitions, and socialize. But what really goes on inside these mega-compounds? Here's a look at what's really happening inside the Olympic Village.

I think athletes and sports lovers should be grateful to the host nation that they are keen to successfully complete their responsibility of hosting 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in such a terrible situation of pandemic COVID-19.

The fuss about cardboard beds in the Tokyo Olympics is ridiculous. People complain about humans wrecking the environment thus resulting to climate change. When a country tries to do something that pushes for sustainability, the Western media denigrate it. This year's Olympics is already set to be the most expensive Olympics on record ($20 billion). The host country has nothing to gain now. Give Japan some slack.

Heard that Olympic athletes from some Western countries have trashed and destroyed their rooms in the past on their last day in the village - would like to know if this will still occur in Tokyo - such disrespect to the host country to spent hundreds of millions on building the village and provided free accommodations and food with making a great experience for the athletes in mind, and should be an embarrassment to the visiting team country. Imagine you open your house to an unknown guest from a foreign country and you provided free room and board, and the guest destroys the room - WOW! I personally don't care if the rooms are eventually abandoned - shouldn't do this.

The Tokyo Olympic Village apartments were already sold out since 2019. No worries!

I think conducting Olympic in this magnitude in pandemic time, possible only because of Japanese discipline and dedication..great work .

What a biased report this is. Please do your research. It was never expected to be zero infection. It's not possible. Important is to keep it low risk.

I think everyone should appreciate Tokyo2020 during a pandemic crisis. Would there be a Olympic or World Record this year if Japan were not able to run the Olympic in this Pandemic time. God Bless..

The world 🌍 Olympic Committee congratulated Japan 🇯🇵 in 2018 for job well done 👍
Japan was fully ready ahead of the 2020 which they found very strange and they couldn’t believe it and said openly that Japan 🇯🇵 was the first ever to reach this far ahead of the Olympic
We are sorry 😢 that covid came.
We love 💗 you Japan 🇯🇵
Thank you 🙏🏽

Don’t you think Japan is the most ideal and safe place to host Olympic during such a world pandemic?

Many people around the world said that the opening ceremony is sober, but we Japanese spends a lot of money on caring for and hospitality for each player, so please understand that. I think the most important thing that Japanese can do at this tournament is to make the best preparations for the players to exert their strengths and to have them return to their home countries with satisfaction.

This video looks down or even ignores Japan's two main concerns in designing and running the olympic village: 1) dealing with a deadly pandemic and 2) environmental issues. It seems like that Japanese effort to address these two global issues means nothing to this video. " What Really Goes On" is also blind to this "Reality" that the country has gone under huge financial loss through 1 year delay, losing tickets, and costy health measures. Thus, the way that this video compares the accommodation in Rio 2016 and Tokyo in 2021 is not fair. Nor is it fair to reflect only the criticism of the selected participants. Just the idea of cardboard bed indicates that more than showing off, Japan has a message for all of us.

for the small country compared to the big countries. i bet this is still impressed because Japan still do their best when the world had been hit hard by pandemic.
