If you operate according to your own principles and priorities and are highly resistant to group-think, you will unknowingly be a threat to almost all hierarchies (family, ministry/religious hierarchies, friend groups, work culture, sorority), as well as narcissists, codependents, enablers, and conformists, who desperately need acceptance/external validation. It took me years to understand that autonomy is incredibly rare, immensely powerful and useful to the Lord, but not so much to power brokers (understated! cult leaders may try to kill you).
You will, at some point, find yourself resisting abuse of power...alone, and you will lose all respect for those around you, especially religious lackeys, who tolerate heinous abuse of children, including mine, for the sake of a network, business as usual, and not rocking the boat (of systemic toxicity). Sick! Zero respect!
All this talk about men in their 20's and 30's being boys (vs. men)...who exactly were their role models?
Bonus: another thing coercive controllers hate: simplicity. They delight to confusticate things: ex: good versus evil is not black and white thinking (i.e. all narcissists, especially religious ones, are relativists).
